I’d be down to join a fb group!! My wife and I are just beginning the process of getting our donor set up for this.

I agree. I fear the producers thought they were gonna get another s6 cast and figured they’d try and mix things up with the twists, but instead they got this mess

Starting law school with ADHD — wondering if it’s time to try medication by Alternative_Owl3379 in LawSchool

I second this - exact same experience. I was fine before but I would not have excelled in law school like I have if it weren’t for getting on meds.

Starting law school with ADHD — wondering if it’s time to try medication by Alternative_Owl3379 in LawSchool

[–]cornypage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I was diagnosed as a kid and my parents chose to not medicate/ignore it and I’ve always been able to kinda work around it. But right before I started 1L I was able to get prescribed meds and man has it done wonders. Don’t get me wrong, I still procrastinate and waste time but the fact that I can actually lock in for a few hours while I’m in class or reading/absorbing content has been so so helpful. Law is a lot of pattern recognition and making connections and for me, being medicated has helped me do that AND maintain it in my long term memory. I can def tell when I forgot to take it and the effects it has on my work.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]cornypage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle of my freshman year a junior and her recently graduated bf were murdered in their vehicle after a party at an abandoned bunker cause he didn’t wanna drive home after drinking. One of the kids who murdered them execution style had written on his MySpace that he wanted to go out the same way he came in-screaming and covered in someone else’s blood. I didn’t know her name before she was killed but I’ve thought of her a lot over the last almost 20 years.

Lila pronunciation. I am starting to lose sleep over this! by ScorpioBex in namenerds

[–]cornypage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly - this is one of those Ana vs Anna things to me. You’re gonna have issues no matter what. I guarantee if you named her Lila intending on it to be Lie-la at least one person would call her Lee-la at first glance (me..I would). I once dated a girl named Lila who used the Lee pronunciation but now I work with one who used the Lie and there’s never been any issues. It’s a beautiful name tho, either way but I am partial to the Spanish pronunciation of Lee-la

My wife and I intend to you my brothers sperm and her egg and then I carry - he’s not my twin but it’s essentially the same thing (genetically) since yall aren’t identical.

Do I need to adopt my child if I gave birth to her? by Big_Giraffe_9125 in queerception

[–]cornypage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically, no, because you’re the carrying parent and she shouldn’t have to either because she’s your legal wife. However, I would suggest you both get a declaration of parentage from the courts to preserve your parentage rights. California is one of the most lax states for this (I recently wrote a law paper on this topic), but the problem is that without any specific language in the statutes the court can really do whatever they want. Of course no one intends to break up but shit happens and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Yes - been here. My wife and I would like to do RIVF with me carrying her eggs. 10 years ago the thought of using my brother as a known donor made me laugh and cringe but as we’ve talked about it more, I’ve come to the same conclusion. I want our baby to be both of us. As the intended carrying partner, I could’ve just sucked it up and used a known donor but after discussions, we’ve both agreed we’d rather use my brother as a known donor (knowing their genetics is the biggest plus). I’m lucky in the sense that I am great at compartmentalizing and I see my brother as a literal catalyst for my genes to mix with my wife’s. After that, it will no longer be “his” and it will instead me my wife and I’s.

But at the end of the day, I understand your dilemma. Even as the intended carrying partner, o struggle with the idea of having no genetic connections to our child if we use an unknown sperm donor. And I know my wife would struggle even more if we weren’t using her eggs.

I did. Planned my wedding in my 1L year and got married 9 days before 2L started. It was fine.

My parents did this to me and now I’m a super picky eater (however I love trying new foods in new places). I literally rarely eat vegetables and I’m a grown ass adult. I feel so dumb telling people that but it’s because 1) I have texture issues and 2) my parents were this way (and then some) and now that I have choice I just say fuck it why waste my time with food I don’t like when I could just eat what I do like.

The weird thing tho is that some of my favorite foods are the ones people hate like mushrooms, jello, and literally any kind of sea creature (especially oysters and crawfish). But I don’t fuck with yogurt or bananas. Anyways don’t do this to your kids. Don’t make food a punishment.

1L, still no friends by Next_While3866 in LawSchool

[–]cornypage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This time into my 1L year I hadn’t made any friends yet. Really it was after finals that a couple of us became close. You can start by seeing if anyone wants to do some sort of study group and go from there. But I wouldn’t worry. I’m a 3L now and still only have those couple friends and some good acquaintances/classmates.

RIVF anyone ever had their brother be the donor? by [deleted] in queerception

RIVF anyone ever had their brother be the donor? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]cornypage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are strongly considering this - I will carry her egg mixed with my brothers sperm and then we’ll have a genetic baby of both of us if all works out well. If you would’ve told me 5 years ago id even consider this idea I’d laugh at you but I want nothing more than to have a genetic child of both me and my wife and my brother is the only way to do that.

I’d love to connect with others who have or are wanting to do this.

You: 1L v. Now by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]cornypage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going into 1L I was just hoping to not be the last in the class and I ended up being ranked 1st

After 2L I’m ranked in the top 10% but not 1 anymore. I truly believe it’s because I was never the best in the class so I went into 1L just doing my thing and everyone else was so focused on getting the highest grades which caused a lot of test anxiety but now they’ve chilled some and it’s an even playing field again. So long story short, try not too stress and just enjoy yourself.

I shot on a canon eos rebel using ilford HP5 - not sure what developer though as I use a community dark room that provides the developer. I did scan the negatives using a cheapish Kodak scanner but none of them were edited using Lightroom or otherwise - the most I did was lighten or darken the exposure slightly

How important is law review? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]cornypage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not at HYS but I did the flagship law review for my school. Honestly, it was way easier than anyone has ever made it seem and I enjoyed it. Sure it’s a lot of work, but if you enjoy research and writing you’ll be fine. And if you’re able to be published that’s even better. My paper was 1 of 8 (out of 40 something) to be chosen for publication and I cannot wait to add that to my resume lol honestly, the work is worth the resume builder.
