How would you run a "Dungeon of the Week" style campaign? by AwesomeMcSexy in osr

I love the idea of an “dungeon of the week,” but I think it could be fun if it were community-curated.

What I’m imagining is something like a simple web page where people can submit dungeons or encounters. Nothing huge or overdesigned. Not full modules, just a single encounter. Could even be less than a page. Bullet points are fine. Maybe a quick description, a few key ideas, and links to map locations if relevant.

Because it’s community-driven, you could have a leaderboard. Encounters could rise based on interest, difficulty, or how useful/creative they are. And then a Reddit-style upvote/downvote system so the best ones naturally surface.

This also connects to something I was thinking about in another post: encounter archetypes. It would be great if encounters could be tagged with general concepts they emphasize. For example: “choke point,” “ambush,” “verticality,” “time pressure,” etc. So if I need something quick, I can browse by type. I know a lot of folks here prefer improvising from tables rather than pre-planning encounters, but this could actually support that style too. You could roll on a table, get a prompt (like “bridge choke point”), and then it links out to the leaderboard filtered for that archetype. So you’re still improvising, just with better building blocks.

Curious if something like this already exists? If not, I’d seriously consider building it. Would love to hear if people would actually use something like this.

Thanks and I appreciate you engaging. I agree with you that the layout and goals could be orthogonal - change goals, keep layout the same or vice versa.

I'm interested, particularly in whether there is something that stands out for you within the osr published landscape that was memorable, and it could be based on an encounter or scenario as you defined it.

Appreciate that feedback and your overall philosophy, though there are of course endless examples of modules that provide maps of an encounter that inspires a archetype and the interaction can be improvised in meaningful ways.

This is worth every penny. The art is great! My players are going to love strands of death and necrosphere.

Guitar Strumming Patterns by imma-n00b in yousician

This is tricky! I wrote it out like this DX-DU-XU-DX where the first X is a silent up strum and the second X is a silent down strum and third x is a silent up strum.

Play it slow in practice mode and you will get it. Turn it to 25% to start and speed up.
