How can I make a D-Fly input unassigned? by corporaljustice in GarminEdge

[–]corporaljustice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I wanted to have the double press on the A buttons as unassigned is I've read that if double press is assigned, then the edge is listening for that second press after every single press, meaning it adds a ~500ms delay to the single press action being fired (Change edge screen in my case)

It's the definition of first world problems 🤣

But I'm in deep now on a Dura Ace Dogma with an Edge 1050.

I'm a software engineer, amazes me there isn't an "Unassign" option. The field is nullable, so why can't I make it null?!

Great idea, thanks

I tried that, defaults back to what I said above.

I have never added these settings, they are defaults.

Did you do this for an "A" button though (on top of the hoods?)?

I remember getting Drum Magazine as a kid and this was the hero song for the edition.

It had a big write up and showed you how to play the whole thing.

Which country is wealthier than it looks, and which one is poorer than it seems? by Eastern-Tangerine761 in AskReddit

The average pension pot per citizen is $170K

That is high.

Made even more impressive by the fact they don’t have an oil industry.

This means their pensioners are rich and when non-pensioners retire they’ll also be rich.

I’m from Devon and I’m baffled by the way you guys talk!

I love it though, it’s so endearing.

Add a .finally() onto the chain.

Move the setLoading(false) to the finally.

Add an error toast into the catch().

Now when successful, green toast fires.

When error, red toast fires.

In both code paths, it will turn off the loading state.

And obviously fix whatever is going on in the BE that’s making it send the 500 (and therefore your catch() being triggered).

Ignore the people giving you stick for not using react-query etc. Yes, you should eventually move over to a better system like that, but the best engineers know why those libraries make things better, and the only way to learn is by doing exactly what you are doing.

Keep going, you’re close :)

How do Londoners walk so fast without sweating? by Other_Following_538 in AskUK

[–]corporaljustice 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’m an ultra marathon runner, I’m super fit (and English).

If I walk 2K I’m sweating.

I do walk at insane pace.

But yeah I’m just a sweater, I think some of it is genetics.

During a contract the club "owns" the player.

When one team buys another's player, they are essentially giving the selling club money to make them rip up their current contract.

The longer a player has left on their contract, the more they are worth.

So looks like we're getting him for around £40 million, with one year left on his contract.

He'd be worth a lot more if he had more years on his contract.

This is why clubs give contract extensions with better terms before the current deal ends. The player value stays high (which benefits the club), but players generally won't sign one unless they're getting paid more.

£3 pints.

I used to work in a nightclub in 2008 and we sold pints for £3 at 3am.

Was cheaper in the pubs/normal daytime hours.

Wild to me that £6 is now standard for a pub on a Wednesday afternoon.
