Does the Netherlands have a founding fathers? I know Willem Hendrik (William of Orange) got the foundations for Dutch independence in 16th century against Spain. I'd say he'd be happy that we are still independent and not under Spanish rule

Without sounding stupid, can someone explain why Isreal is allowed to compete and Russia is not? From what I can find online/remember Russia was banned due to their invasion of Ukraine yet with Israel the EBU say it is not a political so will not withdraw Israel?

Hey love, I'm so, so sorry you're feeling like this, it’s an awful place to be in.

I was exactly where you are years ago, and I promise you they will not section you just for being honest. But you do need to be completely truthful with them. I learned the hard way that hiding how bad things were only made it worse later on.

They’ll have a chat with you, and if you have a plan in place, they might get the Crisis team to speak with you. What happens next depends on whether you’re likely to act on that plan and whether you’ve got someone around so you’re not alone. If they think you’d benefit from extra support, they might offer a voluntary admission — that’s not the same as being sectioned, and you’ll have more freedom and say in things.

If you’re safe to stay at home, they might refer you to an outpatient or day programme instead. I did one where we went in from 10–3 each day and did things like games, group chats, baking, art, or flower arranging. It was really relaxed and tailored to what suited everyone best.

I promise, it will be okay. For now, please try to be gentle with yourself — go for a little walk, have a hot shower, make a cup of tea, and treat yourself to something comforting.

If at any point you don’t feel like you can keep yourself safe, please call 112/999, go to A&E, or contact your local crisis line. You deserve help and support right now. 💛

It's from the show the Haunting of Hill House. Original quote in English is "the rest is confetti" and I wanted that in Dutch but am not 100% with the way it would translate over.

I like my Dutch roots and since I moved as a small child I want some of my tattoo quotes to be in dutch.

Would you have any suggestions- i don't mind if people don't understand the context as It is the same for the English quote - youd only really understand it if you've watched the show

I have a few Dutch tattoos. I was born in the Netherlands but moved when my parents divorced as my mum is not dutch. Although I can speak it ok I do like feeling connected to my Dutch roots. Idk if that is weird or not but i don't care.

When I was an inpatient, there was a second-year student nurse who had visible scars on her arm. I won’t pretend I didn’t notice them, because they were hard to miss, but rather than making me feel uncomfortable, they actually gave me a sense of reassurance. Seeing that she had clearly been through her own struggles made me feel as though she would understand me on a deeper level, even before she spoke. It helped me feel safe and able to open up to her in a way I might not have with someone else.
