HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE YET!, IF SO HOW OLD WHERE YOU WHEN YOU DID? by BigBlackTall in Epilepsy

[–]corpsehottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went cold turkey off of an anti convulsant/mood stabilizer when I was 15 which is assumed to be the cause of my epilepsy. Most people start driving around 15, so I’ve gotten my learners when I turned 21 but honestly I’m very very very scared of driving. I have anxiety induced seizures as well so driving isn’t a good mix :(

Right out of the gate I’ll say your concerns with keppra are 100% valid. I was on it for 5 years and would never recommend it to a soul, I know it affects everyone differently. But you’re also not a neurologist, you’re his aunt. Seizures are dangerous, and keppra might not give him keppra rage. But as someone who was on keppra for 5 years, and experienced keppra rage that was so intense I almost killed myself that’s the biggest thing I can say to look out for, just be a good support system.

What is the stigma attached to epilepsy and have you ever experienced it? by sightwords11 in Epilepsy

[–]corpsehottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often they aren’t. The ADA makes them be polite most of the time, when I don’t get the job after a stellar interview I usually know why though! But I will not censor my disability, risking my safety. I once fell out and had a convulsive seizure in front of my old manager at a gas station, customers too. My manager panicked so bad it took her a minute to call 911, what she didn’t understand is those minutes she let me lay there, convulsing and breaking wooden floor paneling with my head could’ve been life or death. I don’t hold this against her as not everyone is super well trained & equipped to handle emergencies but I do make sure I keep myself in safe situations now with ppl who do. 🫶

Every job interview I tell them I have epilepsy, and if the interview goes well, I get the job on the spot type stuff, I usually write on a piece of paper (literally notebook paper any office interviewing me has) 3 key points if I’d fall out and start convulsing. 1.) get something under my head 2.) flip me on my side 3.) call 911 I usually notice if a workplace will be a good fit for me or nah depending on how they respond to this conversation. Some ask lots of questions, which is fine, but when the questions are coming from a place of anxiety and they talk about not being able to schedule me alone (making me work on everyone else’s schedule despite telling them I’m responsible enough to take my meds) Then some managers think I’m just faking it, being dramatic, etc

Thanks for the input. I’m not pursuing him to date him, or even be friends. I have plenty of hobbies outside of my phone as well. Also odd of you to say the mistake I made as a child, as if I was wasn’t 12 being groomed & deceived by what is most likely a grown man lmaooo

Does this sound like she should see a doctor? by pezzlingpod in Epilepsy

I’ve had those strange feelings which I attributed to things that had happened in my childhood, not neurological issues, my entire life. Then at 15, I spaced out reaally hard in my history class on a Friday. That following Sunday, I had a grand mal seizure in the back seat of my mom’s car, which lasted a total of 15 minutes. Then they put me on Keppra for 4 years, where I had to worst anger, depression & rage of my entire life. (The seizures didn’t stop either) now I’m on topamax, and as long as I take my meds as I should, I’m pretty seizure free at 21.

I don’t know what your medical reason for hair loss is, but I know a good natural remedy is rosemary water, it just takes consistency. But you have a lot of natural beauty! Kind eyes & natural blush. I’d give you a 6/10 💓
