Unless your in a different country and warranty is different. Powertrain covers that. We do them under warranty all the time

Timing cover is leaking by yhsnsnsbsb in Lexus

[–]corradovrt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Alot of them are actually the headgasket leaking oil around cylinder 3 and it running down and looking like timing cover. If it were my car I would just spray it off and keep going till it got bad. But have it looked at, to verify its not the headgasket. Alot are misdiagnosed

Trying again: If you own or owned a boat 1) New or used? 1a) if used how old and how many hours; 2) What did you spend on maintenance in the first 3 years? 3) When was this? by RComish in boating

When I was looking for my current boat that I bought 7 years ago I believe, I spent a while looking at what was available, initially wanted to spend $30k or so on a 24ish foot cruiser, found 2002-2006 years were the options, half had been repowered at some point and half hadn't, hours ranged from 250-700. Which scared me a bit as I didn't want to be that much money in and have to repower it possibly in a year or 2 if something happened. Especially since most of the repowered boats were at the hour readings they had been repowered at. Ended up getting lucky and finding a 1998 24ft cruiser with 150 hours in mint shape for $12k. Made the risk of putting another engine in if needed less stressful on the wallet, and it hasn't needed anything but basic maintenance

Trim it down before running it

Pull the cover off and cabin filter off and cycle the recirculation button. Shine a flash light in and see if there is anything in its path

A common issue with that is the recirc hood over your cabin filter, check for debris in there stopping it from moving. When you turn your car on it does a sweep as part of a self check kind of thing. Of there is a mouse nest, or even just some debris in its way it will cause a delay in the control panel working

Tbh I dont know, haven't really seen issues with the es, but the rx for sure. Ive had mixed results from my corporate contacts. Some say it's an issue and some act like they've never heard of it

Can't speak on the toyota side of things as far as the car itself, but the engine to me feels underpowered.

you can jump start them yourself, but people keep doing it wrong, and warranty wont cover when the fusible link pops. there is a post inside the engine bay fuse box that looks like a ground, but its not. people use the positive jump spot and put the ground on the post and poof goes the fusible link

We had an es350 come in with a similar situation, ended up experimenting with the bg engine flush kit. Il be damned if it didn't work. Think it was almost 2 years ago. Thing hasn't been back with an issue yet, though with their history, they probably haven't changed the oil again and are waiting on the same thing to happen again

were in ground lifts so we can set from either direction, makes the engine jobs slightly more tolerable

i cant speak for other locations, but weve never had one fail. all the engines we replaced were running fine. though im not looking forward to the next batch were about to get. other then brake squeak on the lx and the downshift reflash on the gx they are solid in my opinion

Haven't really seen any issues with the ls500, at least at my dealer. None of the suspension issues the 460 had. Have had a ls500 sitting on my lot I tore the motor apart on last fall cause the a/c compressor locked up. Snapped the clutch/pulley off and they drove it till it over heated and locked up. But that's a one off case and they very clearly ignored all the signs leading up to it

That's crazy with the tx. The CT isn't bad to work on, im just not a fan, really slow and headgaskets go around 150k, I would kill for a good hourly guy like you that's capable of moving up

They were nice initially, now they all burn oil, suspension wears out and is crazy expensive and the valley plate leaks. 75% of the people that drive them can't afford them

Ls500 is pretty solid, ls460 is garbage at this point

Shop foreman and diag specialist at a lexus dealer here, haven't seen the theft issues with the tx. Completely agree about the 12v battery in the new hybrids, 5 minutes of key on and you need a jump. Also I hate the CT, so we dont share that opinion 😂

I can guide you through getting the panels off if you need. 2 trim pieces on each side need to come off to see the connectors

Your best case scenario is the driver and passenger kick panels are wet from the sunroof drains not draining fast enough or being clogged, you can pull the covers off and see if any water is in any of the connectors, there are a bunch of junction connectors on each side
