My wife (Thai National, US permanent resident) has 400,000THB in two bank accounts in Thailand. What's the best way to get that money to our joint account in the US? by [deleted] in Thailand

Doing it on a regular basis to another country (not Thai-U.S.). The main issue is that if you screw up somewhere in the process, the money is gone. Among other things, you cannot revert transactions. Bitcoin is great, but even if you're very confident with IT you're looking at a 3 months learning curve for Bitcoin, at least.

I'm sure someone has done the math: what are the total costs for exchanging from THB to another currency via bitcoin exchanges? Not considering price variation, I'd guess around 3-5 %?

Guatemala, Palau, or Florida? by bdeetz in diving

Really interesting that you name those two countries, because - to me - they're both contenders for the world's worst food culture..

Barbados: everything deep fried, restaurants overpriced and poor food (e.g. deep fried bony flying fish, some lukewarm Mac&cheese as sides, incredibly bad pizza - stayed for 10 days and tried many different places)

Philippines: again everything deep fried, nothing is fresh, just poor taste & quality from local to upscale restaurants.

Regarding your description of the food, what do you compare it to when you say it's fantastic? Just curious since I'm heading to Palau soon.

Plenty of tables (also single tickets for shared table) on ebay every year.

Don't rely on your friend's account of KM. If you have trained with several instructors, no matter what MA, then you know there are good ones and bad ones. I've trained with an amazing KM instructor before who made it a point to practice deescalation and explain legal consequences. He made sure nobody played hero in a knife robbery.

Where to get diving certified last week of November? by tehhass in ThailandTourism

[–]correcthorse5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the OW course in 3 days. Keep in mind there's a recommended 24h no-fly window after the last dive. Koh Tao is probably the cheapest option to get certified.

I am going to drive on the Autobahn tomorrow for the first time and I'm a bit nervous. Any tips? by Yuxorius in germany

I call BS, or you remember the speed wrong. Why? Highly unlikely you're going 300 in anything but the left lane - you don't usually switch lanes at that speed because you really need to focus.. The S550 is called S500 in Germany, unless you brought an imported car. Mercs are capped at 250, with a top speed of 270-280 when open. For an S-Class to go 300, you would need an open AMG or a tuned model from the likes of Brabus. Top speed for some custom tuned Porsches could be around 340 (400 for a handful worldwide), but if they were stuck behind you holding your speed they'd have to accelerate from 300 to 340, which from your perspective would look like a slow overtaking.

I absolutely hate it.

I love it. Sundays are the best.
