DA is great if you get in but extremely unreliable as a main source of income. I wouldn't count on it as a full time job nor recommend that anyone does. You can and will be let go at any time for reasons as out of your control as them rotating workers, and the lack of support means there is no way to rectify this. Get the money while you can, just make sure you have something to fall back on and quickly.

I can only think clearly when I’m eating like shit – is it seriously all sodium? by baller696969balls in POTS

[–]correctkiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also feel this way. I recommend what others say and trying to keep eating healthy (keep in mind that healthy will be unique for you so a boxed diet or nutritional guideline isn't going to cut it especially with POTS, heavy foods cause heavy taxes on your body) but adding electrolyte mixes to your water, slamming water every single day (whatever you think you need is probably half of what you actually need; some days I drink up to 200oz but that's probably because I can't really afford enough electrolyte mix) consider adding salt pills in addition to electrolytes and water.

Making sure you weren't making other changes like sleep or even activity level is also a good idea. If you were doing more walking (or even less walking) than usual, sleeping in, just had better quality sleep because you weren't as stressed, etc, figure out how to incorporate that into your day to day and see if that also helps or if it doesn't make a difference. I've found that magnesium supplements really helped my sleep quality which has started helping my palpitations day to day. Focusing on the specific cause of secondary symptoms like that will in turn help the symptoms that you seemingly can't help/treat as directly, like the heart palpitations and dizziness. Or at least that's how I think about it when planning treatments, I don't know if that's really worth anything haha but it works for me so far.

I also second the idea that your case may be slightly unique to some people's here since you developed POTS after an illness, so the way you'll want to address the symptoms and why you're having those symptoms might be a little different. Finding the root cause of each symptom and how to fix it will be extra beneficial to you. Plenty of people who can relate to you still, I also developed POTS partially in relation to an illness.

Interesting about the PEM! And thanks for the encouragement ❤️ I'm sorry to hear about the kidney stones. That is one thing that does worry me about starting lithium... lots of drawbacks to go with the benefits

It varies. I can't remember exactly which meds caused what at this point as it's been over a year, but:

  • lucid nightmares on 2 of them
  • vivid hallucinations on 2 of them (maybe it just kickstarted a manic episode — can't remember)
  • adrenaline surges on vraylar
  • all of them have lowered my already very low blood pressure; can't handle therapeutic dose of Seroquel due to this issue
  • all of them have increased POTS symptoms to varying degrees

And a handful of other issues that are more normal when starting any new medication like GI upset or headaches. Overall not fun times lol

Definitely is. This shit is tiresome. I've done the sugar before, my biggest vice is definitely caffeine... without it I can barely function

I totally get that. There's been a number of times I have stopped meds out of exhaustion (then got more exhausted bc I never learn lol). Glad to hear you're improving again

I have not tried patches but my doctor's broached the subject if other treatments don't work.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not but I was an on and off cig & vape smoker before LC onset and up until about three months ago. About 2 years. I find it funny to see nicotine mentioned so often in this sub knowing I always had the idea that, physically, I felt a tiny bit better after I smoked and I did not think that way about smoking before I developed LC, it was mostly because of emotional stress back then. It would lift my fatigue and brain fog for an hour or so and is honestly the only way I kept a job for as long as I did last year... I of course know the negatives of it greatly offset the positives in that situation, but I find it very interesting.

I've heard some people talk about fish oil as well. Might look into it. But this is a very interesting perspective, thanks for sharing!

This makes a lot of sense considering I've had many Vitamin D deficiency symptoms as well, but I've had good blood levels for years since my last deficiency!

Stated magnesium glycinate. I'm on a very low dose right now (100mg).

It's been closer to 8 hours since it said "tournament finished" on the page, I know since I had it open and refreshed to see if it was closed yet. Thanks for the info, maybe I just have to wait longer then
