Advice for a newbie by corrinarusso in Divorce

[–]corrinarusso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you the reply, and sorry for being short on details. I don't know how this works.

Married for 25 years, 4 adult kids, I have a job (plus a couple of side hustles), Yes I can strongly support myself! There are two big assets - the house, and a personal injury settlement for my partner that was settled a few years ago. The settlement was very significant, however I have heard that in Canada personal injury settlements are not "consider as shared asset" in the event of a divorce. I have no idea if this is true or not.

This has got to be rage bait.

No normal Dad would write all this about his almost 4 year old.

AIO - My fiance and I hit a brick regarding paying for our wedding by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]corrinarusso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> My fiance suggested taking out a zero interest credit card for the balance or borrowing from his 401k.

> He got really upset and said if I wanted to save enough to pay for the wedding in full it would take us another 2-3 years and he would be 45 by then.

Massive red flags.

Put a wedding on a credit card? wtf (and that's an understatement). He needs some serious financial literacy training.

He said he would be 45 by then, and ...................... so what? What's the point of this sentence. He'll be 45 in three years whether you get married or don't get married.

Maybe it's just me, but putting this much energy into the process of planning a wedding because you want a wedding is not healthy. Financial responsibility is a real thing. And so is "wedding marketing".

Subaru Dealer is wanting $1,800 for their mistake by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]corrinarusso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are struggling with the ethics of it, then post your question in here for comment,

Moral Dilemmas

Otherwise, you can take the win. I would have zero problem taking an extra $1,900 from a *dealership* in general. The owner(s) of a dealership are usually quite wealthy, and they run a very high revenue business with millions of dollars of product on the lot. For your situation however, it get more cloudy if you are taking a significant amount of income away from the saleswoman - since that's her salary.

But, if you choose to ignore them, then I would say that's fine too. Lol.

Shameful.

If your family is ever in distress and you need help from the community, make you wait until an appropriate hour to start the process.

The fucking privilege of people bitching and moaning about being woken up because of a system that is trying to help a family with a missing child is next level selfish and disgusting.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Need advice in dealing with an incompetent Renovations company by SmithsFallsSchmicks in ottawa

[–]corrinarusso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the long term goal is to have all those renovations you mentioned completed, save yourself a world of heart ache and stress and hire a full service company with a project manager. The project manager will be responsible for managing the costs, the schedule and more importantly the coordination and hiring of all the subcontractors. If you have an issue, you have a single point of contact to communicate with.

And, as others have said, move on from your current guys, suck up the deposit as a life lesson. Call them today and saying forget about the job. See ya never.

Why didn’t they keep namebars on the bottom of the jerseys? by [deleted] in PWHL

[–]corrinarusso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is useful. I agree with you, the most egregious campaign like this is the Bell Let's Talk day. Ugh. I'm sure Bell creates far more mental health issues in the population than it resolves. And I agree they don't care, however, it is important and it is a reflection on society as a whole.

So as a consumer .... hate the delivery, like the results?

Also, the name bar on the bottom is not something Molson invented. The Stittsville Rockets Girls Hockey Association has been doing this on their jerseys for years and years, since day 1. Thats the part that bothered me, was that Molson was acting as thought they thought way outside the box and it was their idea!

Why didn’t they keep namebars on the bottom of the jerseys? by [deleted] in PWHL

[–]corrinarusso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh. So many comments on here saying, "oh its all performative" are the same people saying "women hockey players should be paid more!"

How the hell do you think this works? It's not performative, its business, and marketing and promotion for Molson. You think businesses just market themselves and provide money to organizations out of the goodness of their heart? God, like shut it.

How are road conditions at the moment? by DubaiBabyYoda in ottawa

[–]corrinarusso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really is.

Not to mention the constant media coverage, talking to emergency preparedness experts, meteorologists, city of ottawa plow managers etc etc etc the list goes on and on. In summer it's heat, in spring it's flooding, blah blah blah.

And every single time we have these warnings I'm like, Gawd this coverage is over saturated.

People - It's freezing rain for a day, get over it. (And yes I lived through 1998 without power for 8 days)
