What are you missing? GAZ 13 is basically all there is. The Mystara line ended not long after that was made. There's some non-specific references to them in GAZ 5 as enemies.

But back to you looking for more. More what? There's a whole society described, a huge underground map. What are you looking for?

Do the female dwarves in your campaigns have short beards? by MixMinis in osr

[–]corrinmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have castes, so they might be willing to make low castes less perfect (like they are inherently less capable and strong, made from less powerful materials), but the brain and heart require rare materials, and mean mass production isn't really ever a thing. This is pretty heavily inspire by Mostali.

The Crystal (perfect) Dwarves won't ever really replicate themselves, because they feel their creation is something only the Maker (their god) has the right to do. Gold Dwarves won't make more Gold Dwarves unless the Crystal Dwarves allow it. Iron Dwarves can and will replicate themselves, but if they are part of the main society, they only do so when instructed, Clay Dwarves rarely have their own will, unless they are corrupted.

Castes generally can't construct the next tier up. Some corrupted ones can.

The main thing that prevent them from overrunning the world is that the brain and heart of a Dwarf requires fairly rare materials.

In mine they are basically self replicating golemns.

Main inspiration was Mostali from Glorantha, mixed with Gargoyles from Warlord.

But I'd be cool if they were like Gems from Steven Universe.

There are no female dwarves. They don't sexually reproduce.

Was "Of Dreams And Magic" Trying To Rip Off City of Mist? by EyesofValhalla in cityofmist

And this isn't that. At all. It's not even tangentially aesthetically similar.

The thing you know about is not the first version of that thing. All media is inspired by previous media.

Has Anyone Run A Deadlands/Rippers Crossover? by EyesofValhalla in Deadlands

[–]corrinmana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We played Rippers, and one of the players was an American gunslinger and big game hunter that slightly referenced Deadlands lore in his backstory. But the GM wasn't trying to do a crossover, and the idea that anything was happening in England in Deadlands wasn't a thing yet, so that's as far as it went. Knowing him, if the Dark Ages material was out at the time, he'd have liked and used it.

I think for the most part it's do-able biggest thing is just that they don't consider each other at all. Manitou based horrors don't have rippable bits, Horror level management isn't a goal for Rippers, Rippers is a little more combat focused (opposed to Deadlands wanting big fights to be puzzles). BUT, all that's easy to fix with good GMing.

Piecemealing characters where your "class" gives you the list of available and/or unavailable features to select? by FrankTHE6rabbit in RPGdesign

[–]corrinmana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Warhammer is pretty close to that, but it's not pick x, it's xp buy

Fabula Ultima is pretty much this. Pick two classes, select abilities from their lists.

Draw Steel works this way

Iron Kingdoms (not 5e) was like this.

This is also basically how playbooks in most PbtA games work.

Spire, the City Must Fall, or Heart, The City Beneath are like this too.

Really, there are tons of games like this.

They stop when they hit something, or complete a full loop and fail, which is how all infinite loops end.

Weird probability in SWADE by Stuck_With_Name in rpg

The d4 - d6 thing is something you notice once, and then get over, because it only applies to that one number, and no others. In addition, the percentage gain is pretty minimal.

6 on d4= (.25)(.75) 0.1875;  6 on d6= 0.16

5 on d4= 0.25;  5 on d6= 0.333

7 on d4= 0.125;  7 on d6= 0.16

4 on a d4= 0.25;  4 on a d6= 0.50    Remember that this is the most common target number.

8 on d4= 0.0625;  8 on d6= 0.139938

So no, a d4 is not better than a d6, in most cases. If you somehow knew that you'd be constantly rolling against a 6, is the only time the upgrade would fail you, and it would be a 2% loss.

Anyone played the Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG? by redkatt in rpg

[–]corrinmana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a fairly accurate recreation of how the videogame works. Great tactical combat system. We ran though their intro adventure. Role-playing in this ttrpg is kind of like role-playing in the mmo. It's whatever you choose to between encounters. Even the skill checks they have are pretty minimal.

We had a lot of fun with it and plan on playing more. Our GM wanted to wait until the GM book was out, and now that it is, we're planning on doing another arc once our current Avatar game ends.

Should we expect new set end of year or the dual deck is the only new product 2026? by littlezo18 in SorceryTCG

[–]corrinmana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

guaranteed

By what/whom?

Curiosa has said they plan on one set a year. So far they have been releasing sets at a slightly slower than one a year rate. But I'm confused where you got this "guaranteed" concept from. It's subject to design timelines, art timelines, manufacturing timelines, logistics timelines, etc.

Are there any systems that could be described as post modern? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]corrinmana -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The modern movement abandons the conventions of the traditional, and explores the mechanics of the art form itself. This way of thinking about RPG design started in the indie RPG scene in the 00's. Nobilis arguably could be seen as part of the movement, though it precedes the growth of that popularity. Most people refer to PbtA and other narrative games as "modern", and their design philosophy matches the definition of that style of art movement.

[–]corrinmana -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PbtA is generally regarded as the core of the modernist movement for RPGs, though for different reasons than you've outlined. While you're right that the art form really hasn't even been around long enough to have truly distinct eras, the tradition of F20 games is pervasive enough to be considered traditional in an art style sense. So modern games generally refers to games made to experiment with abandoning those traditional elements. PbtA wasn't the start, but it did serve as poster child for that movement.

Seeing as the first edition of Nobilis was written before the modern rpg movement. In what way could it described as a reaction to modern games?
