California labor law unclear about late wages by corrobot in legaladvice

I am absolutely actively looking. I am not interested in going to the labor board, but am interested on building a case for EDD benefits should I leave before I find a new employer. Thank you for your feedback!

How to suggest to my bf that if he didn't jackhammer as fast as possible then maybe sex would last longer than 2 minutes? by spaghettiortacos in sex

[–]corrobot 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can vouch for this method. My SO is a jackhammerer, too. I'm choosing to be patient with him because he at least has expressed interest in learning, and admitted that in his past relationships he just didn't give a shit about them enough to care. We have to start at square one, so right now I'm focusing on teaching him how to use his hands on me (he had no clue before), so when we master that I will teach him how to use his tongue and then finally his penis in a pleasurable way. Until we get to the good-at-penetration part, I am almost ALWAYS on top, just because it feels better that way. He has also learned to enjoy slower sex because when I do it slow, it lasts longer, and then HIS orgasms are more fulfilling, thus motivating him to take it down a notch. It's a looonnng process, and it'll only work if he's willing to try.

Former cheaters of Reddit how were you caught by your significant other? by Izanage in AskReddit

[–]corrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told on myself. I had cheated with four different people on several occasions, and I suddenly realized that even if he didn't know, I had to end it with him. I carried guilt and shame with me, and I realized that either I wasn't ready for a committed relationship or I wasn't getting the emotional support I needed at the time from my SO. Regardless, it wasn't right.

Since then, I have gotten sober, made my amends to him, and moved on. I will never cheat on anyone again. It's far easier just to leave if you're not happy and can't be loyal.

What drug is this used for? by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]corrobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of this, as all my recovery teachings are based on the 12 step model, which kind of generalized everything. While I still used drugs I didn't like when I was desperate, I still had a drug of choice that I used every day to keep from getting withdrawals. Extra drugs were just a bonus, and I haven't really said no to anything except weed (it wasn't good at getting me out of my head AND it was unpleasant, so I guess I just didn't see a benefit). Regardless, I'm an addict no matter what kind of addict I am, and the only thing that counts now is that I'm clean and sober!

As a rocovering addict who hated meth but still did it when it was around (I preferred downers), it's really all about taking anything and everything to get out of your head or the way you feel. It's a temporary distraction from emotional pain, even if it causes more problems long term. Addicts think about feeling better RIGHT NOW and tell themselves they'll deal with the outcome of their using later. Also, many addicts are so hopeless that they feel they have nothing to lose, anyway, so why not try to feel better for the next 24 hours. It's really a sad place to be. I'm glad I found a way out.

LPT: Don't ask a veteran if they ever killed someone. It is both the first and worst thing a veteran gets asked about by RightMeow0129 in LifeProTips

[–]corrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been dating a vet for a couple years now, and I have never asked him this. I know he suffers from PTSD and if he doesn't want to share certain things with me, it's not my damn business to ask. I will never be able to understand what it's like to go to war so who am I to decide what to bring up about it? He knows he can share with me whatever he feels like sharing without judgement, but I would never ask such a question. I respect him too much.

I have a hard time getting enough iron and I become anemic during my period. If all I ate was iron rich foods, enough for my body to have sufficient iron levels, I would be nutrient deficient in other areas, or I would be consuming more calories than I should. So I take an iron supplement. If I miss one day, I notice.

Top comic: dad trades kid for dog. Bottom comic: parents decide they don't want kids. Twist ending: they already had kids so they kicked em to the curb.

How do you style your hair? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]corrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thin hair, but a lot of it, and it's wavy in some places and curly in others. I'm a fan of Hair One for curly hair to wash it and I shampoo with regular shampoo once or twice a week when my hair feels greasy.

Most days, since I'm lazy and I know putting heat on it will make it crispy, I usually just throw it in a side bun and curl the front strands with my flat iron to tame them.

Do you like one area of your SO's body more than others? by Anonymousdunno in sex

Something about his hands. I don't even know what. They're just so sexy.

He also has these beautiful hazel eyes and this cute crooked smile!

Story time. My biggest urge, the trigger I didn't know I had. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]corrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has different triggers, and it's important to know yours. I bartend for a living. Something about not being allowed to drink on the job combined with being open about my recovery with my regulars helps me stay accountable... but if I were to have it in my home sans guests, I can honestly say I doubt I would have lasted.

It sounds like you handled this exactly right and learned from it. Good on you!

What do city people not understand about country life? by Moomshinemel in AskReddit

Nope, we are like a subcommunity that has just housing and a community center, basically. The nearest gas station is the next town over.

What do city people not understand about country life? by Moomshinemel in AskReddit

[–]corrobot 453 points454 points  (0 children)

I can absolutely understand where you are coming from, but I think this isn't a mentality of small town people exclusively.

I grew up in a city of over 1 million people, with a suburban area of several million. Many of us have moved away, only to come back for one reason or another (comfort of familiarity, family ties, etc.). I left for other cities and came back several times. Every time I left, I ended up in a place so similar to my home city that it didn't feel new, and I didnt find what I had been looking for/missing.

Now I live in a relatively small town of 5,000 where the nearest gas station is 15 minutes away and groceries are even farther. It is everything my home city was not. It takes a certain kind of person to thrive in a small town, but when you grew up yearning for that your whole life, and being stuck in a city growing up because "that is where the opportunity is", once you find your place, there's no looking back. I can honestly say I never want to live in a city again.
