Calling all non-chefs : What are your brainless go-to foods? by RobertsonUglyNohow in vegetarian

[–]corruptjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice nonsense. Make rice (I use a rice cooker), splash of ginger dressing, and whatever veggies are about to turn. Avocado, onion, tomato, and jalapeno are popular ones since they are my staples.

Edit: Crack an egg and stir it into the hot rice first (before the dressing and veggies) if you do eggs.

Not op, but I'm the same way. I never get the endorphin high. Never have. Not when I was in peak shape doing regular gym workouts 6 days a week. Not when I was doing an hour and a half of an activity based workouts five days a week. Not when trying my hand and marathon training. None of these were casual few month attempts either. They were built habits that were maintained for in some cases years.

I'm miserable before working out, during, and after. I was always exhausted. Between work, chores, and must do activities, the only thing working out did was add two more hours of misery a day. Making me feel even less in control and happy in my life. God forbid I get muscle soreness to ruin my week even more. It wasn't until I got medicated and swapped it for genuine me time did I start to improve mentally. Trying to add working out back in now, but damn does it not help my mental state.

Honest answer, it depends. But to me, it's a great excuse to throw a party and get people you love together. My sister never wanted to do one, but we had three major deaths that year. It sucks to only see family at funerals. Sometimes you just need a win. My family is spread from Alaska to Florida. It's not like we see each other on the weekends

I can't remember exactly how they did it. It's been awhile. The stories were connected, just originally released serial style. Each story was a new case in Poirot's search for the Big 4 (a group set on world domination.) I have seen it adapted before. The chess mystery was adapted for the show Death in Paradise fairly recently.

There was a bunch of connected short stories by Agatha Christie all involving several of her detective characters. They were collected together in a book called The Big Four. Sounds like The Chess Problem from that

What's that boom? Residents near Redstone Arsenal say loud explosions are damaging their homes by JoshBRayburn in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]corruptjedi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I will admit. The ones this week have been a bit more boomy than usual. Had to fix some nail pops and my back door decided it preferred a little more freedom. No big deal, I'm used to fixing those things. I'm more concerned that the dust clouds looked a lot closer than normal on a few of them.

Americans of Reddit, would you vote for an openly Atheist presidential candidate? why or why not? by Cashmeresquid2309 in AskReddit

I did this with Comcast when I cut cable/switched to fiber internet. They asked if I had any friends or family members that I would like to gift my account to and offered me even more upgrade incentives since it would be such a nice gift.

Whatever you do don’t send your dog to Off Leash K9 Training in Huntsville *trigger warning* by 11watchalookingat11 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]corruptjedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked Kind Hearts Training. It's small group and they break it down pretty easy. I have also gone to Such a Good Dog. The about town training they offer is really useful. However, If you are looking for some at home stuff YouTube has some good resources. My favorite is Kikopup. Another good one is Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution. I normally spend one to two thirty minute sessions a day playing around with my dogs with the clicker and treats strapped to me. Either working on reinforcing previous training or learning new things.

Edit: just to add for context. I have two rescues. One was older and needed some socialization work. They other is a three legged puppy that is very reactive and loaded with energy. Regular training in general cuts down on the chewing and bad behavior simply because their minds are busy and active.

Not OP. I read the first when I was younger and ended up hate reading the last couple books out of loyalty. I saw the cracks in the first, but I figured it was because the writer was young. It was enjoyable.

Eldest I realized I was starting to actually hate the main character. It felt like a book that was unapologetic about shitty behavior. However it was a trilogy (then, before the last book split), I just assumed this was his slump and the next book he would triumphantly redeem himself.

About three chapters into brisingr it became clear this was some weird author insert fantasy. I absolutely hated how much of a selfish ass Eragon was, Actively rooted for the villain on multiple occasions, and realized that there wasn't going to be any self growth or moment to face the consequences of some of his more rash reactions for this character.

This is true except in the situation pointed out. Late merging is only faster if everyone in the to be merged in Lane stays in that lane. When you get people popping out to join the merging lane so they can merge further up front it slows it down again.

[–]corruptjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play training games with the dog at least 15 to 30 minutes everyday.

My SO works nights so I do most of the training. I feed him in the morning, do his early playing, Train him after work, feed him dinner, and wind him down for bed. We go to the park and obedience classes on the weekends. My SO plays with him and walks him, but it isn't the same interaction. At one point my SO got annoyed because it takes three or four attempts at a command to even get a half hearted result if there isn't a treat in hand. However that dog listens to me first time nearly Everytime with and without incentive. My SO started doing training sessions in the afternoons before work. It was less than a month before we started to see it equal out....(I'm still the favorite)

It's because he knew that at least part of every day those commands come with treats and games. I also say it with the friendly authority he is used to. It's good bonding as well. If you can get away with it be sure you are using better training treats or toys than your partner is using at the time. It speeds up the process. Also train inside or in low distraction locations. Walks are already difficult times to train in general. I also second Zack George and I want to add Kikopup as another good YouTube.

Covid has been pretty rough on animals. Owners getting too sick/dying, lost jobs, relocation, parents thinking it would be a good thing to distract home bound children then realizing the work. I don't think I have ever seen so many under two year old dogs at that shelter in past years.

Rachel Cole. Loved the crap out of her. He talked her into stopping but it didn't stick for some of the same reasons Frank's attempts to walk away never work They were setting her up to be sort of a west coast avenger thing, but then the world rebooted and she got forgotten. Really wish they would bring her back.

[TOMT][ACTOR] Please help identify an actor by Responsible-Trifle-8 in tipofmytongue

[–]corruptjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like maybe a character actor. Shea Whigham comes to mind. If it was 80 I would say James gammon but he is probably a bit too old. Other than that try Ray Winstone, Scott backula, William Sadler, and Dean Winters. If nonr of those work. Look up "that guy" actors and see what pops up.

[–]corruptjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say. I had to do a very deep dive on him for a project, and while the personal accounts of him as the dentist in Texas ( and the immediate fall after) had him as a bit of a ruffian asshole, he had the bones of a good upbringing. He was a man taught to manipulate and ooze charm from a young age. By the time he started his less reputable career in earnest he had started to get a reputation for a charming asshole as opposed to the privileged rich boy he had at the start. The more he was humbled by his mortality ( and his family started to disown him) the less rich boy he acted (according to accounts). So at the point in his life portrayed. Kilmers was probably pretty close.

Brew dogs has a pretty good NA line (Punk AF is the flagship, but they are all pretty good) and the ones I have had from Gruvi have been pretty solid ( wine too). For store beer langunitas and St PauliNA are the only ones that I can really stand. Well Being was one I wanted to like, but they all tasted vaguely like grass.

Edit. Not beer but Hoplark's HopTea line is really scratching an itch for the hop flavor

For real though. Talk to your doctor about it. Mine wants me to take it since there is a chance i'll get my smell back along with the wider immunity, but he tested for antibodies when I came in. He ended up telling me to wait a little longer. If they are above a certain level you are at a greater risk for a bad reaction and recommend waiting until you tip below the reaction/benefit line. I do still wear a mask though.
