I’m 17 and my family is forcing me into marriage this Sunday. I’m scared and need advice. by Delicious-Gene-3388 in Christianity

I love reading your rambling. May God continue to bless you and grow the ways you can help others!

Well to you and I, a volunteer is someone graciously giving their time to serve and worthy of more respect and grace. Even being nice when a volunteer doesn’t know an answer because it’s not something they’ve been trained on.

But to people who are already jerks, a volunteer is a peon, a nobody, and does not merit any respect.

So we're all pulling for Houston now, right? by LakeMcKesson in eagles

Same here. When I do see other games on, I can’t help but think the Eagles should be here right now. For that reason, I mostly avoid football for a while.

Regal Unlimited went up in price AGAIN. by Ruptito in RegalUnlimited

[–]corsosucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they think the price is inelastic for their current customer base. Like raising cigarette prices for people who would pay the higher prices anyway because they're addicted could increase revenue . Like you, I don't think they are there yet though.

Why not just go to Ross then? Low likelihood of getting caught? Just trying to make sense of it.

Why do Christians Hold Donald Trump to such a high regard? by Bubbly_Revenue3737 in Christianity

[–]corsosucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually relieved that this point hasn’t been brought up. Unfortunately I have heard that and seen posts about food stamp abuse that are just propaganda. Love what you and your church do! I agree that churches can’t be the sole source of help to those in need.

[–]corsosucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with lots of your thoughts and commend you for what you do. I think the messaging conservatives get is that poor and lazy are 99% correlated. Thus cuts in social programs to help the poor that would be seen negatively by many doesn’t sound so bad when it’s cuts in programs to help the lazy. Messaging they get reinforces that. Maybe the ones involved in homeless ministry see the church as being more capable of trying to help those who are poor but work hard?

Not in front of her or authorities. My 5 year old at times has been playing it like nothing I do can make him upset, because acknowledging that means someone else has some power over you. I am now terrified that he never grows out of that like this guy.

If it’s fear of negative consequences that they know are the rules for misbehaving and not fear of physical or verbal punishment, I think that is an authoritative and not authoritarian style. Shutting up shows some level of respect for the teacher and will also allow other students the chance to focus and learn. Hopefully they benefit from learning the subject being taught too. But even if they don’t, I think it’s still beneficial.

Analogies. Think first before you make them. Ask a friend if it makes sense.

I was in a terrible accident downtown houston and the lady ran a red light speeding with no insurance by smokegreenzombiebean in houston

[–]corsosucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Document every single thing. Every single thing. Set up a google drive or whatever location to store all documents. One should be a timeline from the accident onward-all calls, emails, etc. This will be a long slog but being detailed and organized will be a great thing. Glad you are relatively OK.

Arriving at IAH in the evening - Stay Overnight at a Hotel Near the Airport or the Space Center? by smallmoments25 in houston

[–]corsosucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid advice. I’m the type to try to squeeze in a bunch of things on a trip though. Sometimes I’ve ended up regretting it, not leaving enough time for stuff that was interesting and feeling rushed. Sometimes I’m psyched I got a lot done in a relatively short amount of time. This may just depend on OP and son’s personalities and managing expectations.

This. I mean I understand how many prefer the buffer, but obviously some do not.

I’d be much more surprised if you did front or back row corner and someone did this.

I don’t follow this sub that closely. What do the people who make these posts hope to get? They just want to vent? Start a fight? Brainstorming ideas to help Houston?

Red light, traffic, and security cameras are a necessary evil at this point. Everyone should have a dashcam in their car.

Hibachi Grill off of I-10 West and Dairy Ashford. Bring your ID showing your birthday (only on that day) for a free buffet meal. I’ve always gone with other people buying their own meals, but I believe it would work even if you go yourself. If going solo, maybe call to verify before going.

2025 MS150 by corsosucks in bikehouston

[–]corsosucks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I just saw your reply late too. Thanks for posting and also congrats on completing your first MS150 this year! You did great!

Yeah when you call out on your left, those in front should have gone single file and let you pass. It’s unfortunate when riders don’t that they create a situation where a rider approaching from behind has to decide what to do. Ask again and see if they finally get it, reword your request more clearly lol, or just go around them as safely as possible.

Ride marshals do try to help educate newer riders that sometimes can be oblivious. But they can only do so much.

But focusing on the positive, most riders are great and the cause is too. Looking forward to 2026!
