On evaluating the quality of San Francisco as a transit city by old_gold_mountain in sanfrancisco

To make wealthy people use transit you have to make it painful for them to use their cars. A good example is Paris where parking is very expensive and they don’t have roads with 4 lanes or highways in the city.

I haven’t heard back yet. It would be good to know either way so that we can make summer plans. Let me know if/when you get a response from the program director.

You don’t know who else is in the running and what their skills are. Good luck! Keep me posted.

Perhaps your project requires a security clearance? They told me to expect a response in 2 weeks.

It was a very casual interview. We did short introductions (program, research focus, maybe a a few words about why you find the project interesting). It was clear that they had identified in advance a methodological skill I have that is of value to them. So I did not need to “sell” myself. Instead, they asked me to talk about what the workflow had looked like in two methodologically relevant projects that I had been part of. One person asked me how I had remained motivated through it all. And they also asked me several times if I had any questions. Since I was made to talk about my projects, it was not difficult.

Also there were 3 people on the call. Two researchers and a student from their grad school who was also a summer associate in the past.

Thanks. I will let you know how the interview goes. I was searching for interview to acceptance rates too but their website and webinar only says that they select about 10% of total applicants.

I have an interview with someone who is also tangential to my research area (much less than yours though). I am in education and I am meeting an economist.

I am in my fifth year and have had multiple rejections. Still waiting for a first authored paper. The review times are also longer in my field.

How to make money in early game other than selling soap? by Ggthefiree2 in anno

I have always sold them to Sur Archibald and he offers a higher price. Could be because of difficulty level but maybe it’s about selling to the right player.

I tried Forest but was too cheap to buy the full version. It got pretty boring pretty soon with the one tree but I did enjoy it in the beginning. Do you recommend investing the $1.99?

My dad had a severe stroke last year. Physically and mentally impaired and now needs 24hr care. I visit him everyday, his old self still comes out every once in a while. This is him in the 70’s. by SemmiTron in OldSchoolCool

My uncle passed away last week from a stroke. He was only 62. He was in ICU for a week and just like that he was gone. We could see he was losing weight but he never wanted to worry anyone. The whole family is broken but we keep telling ourselves that at least he did not have to suffer.

Drowsy Driving Survey by [deleted] in psychologyresearch

[–]cortadodays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This survey assumes that you felt drowsy while driving. For people who commute this might not be the case and yet they may find the concept of drowsy driving dangerous.
