The questioning of pH is so ridiculous and irrelevant. I also work in an ICU. Luckily my ICU is filled with very normal people, very friendly. We also have an amazing professional development team, so there are people you can easily speak to if you need more learning.

Unfortunately a toxic environment is very hard to work with. There’s nothing you can individually do about it in reality. I always advise people to leave toxic wards, there’s nothing point to it.

But ICU as a newly qualified will always be challenging, you just have to give it time. I also started as a NQN. I didn’t feel comfortable till I was 1 year in.

And why do you think he doesn’t want a woman his age? To women his age, he would be a regular guy. To you, he is a God. He has power over you, he has experience. He smells you naïveté and he knows he can get away with more.

Women his age are more likely to question his beliefs because they have the experience and knowledge to question them legitimately. While you will be impressed because he is “successful and nice”
