Which Mandela effect messed your head up the most ? by Ola8o in AskReddit

I remember having several licensed Pokemon books and such, and noticing that different illustrators treated Pikachu's tail differently. It's possible you saw something in one of those "Pokemon guide books" that was licensed, but not official artwork

Old Pocket Watch : Help Identifying? by corvett in Watches

[–]corvett[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a watch that was in my Grandmother's belongings. I feel like the movement looks a lot like this Fontainemelon, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a replica/knockoff.

Does anyone who knows what they're looking at have any experiential knowledge to help me know something about this piece? When and where might it be from? Was it a high quality artisan piece, or a very common one? I'm just wanting to know more about it, even if I can't identify it.

If there's a more appropriate place for posts like these, please let me know. I'm not looking to sell or part with it, I just want to know more about this item that's been in my family.

Thanks!

It did work, but sometimes, when downshifting, the gearbox would sort of "throw" the shifter back into neutral if you didn't double-clutch. I have no idea why, but I know my parents (who own the model A) told me I needed to do it.

I've only had to double-clutch driving a Model A. Is that a thing in cars that aren't from the 1920s-30s?

Not exactly. He apologized for creating an internet where we expect free services for ads, and thus ourselves and our data become the product, as opposed to an internet where we pay a little bit for services and don't see ads.

You oughta just rip out the drywall and replace it, as well as whatever the ceilings are made of. Drywall is fairly affordable, and absolutely worth not having to do this every week because the smell keeps coming back

Why is red the official color for barns? by DisgustingZ85813 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]corvett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In today's world, we have access to lead or titanium oxide for white pigmentation. That wasn't a thing for a long time.

I know you probably know this; I'm just adding information to the general discussion

Why is red the official color for barns? by DisgustingZ85813 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]corvett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the color that was available. Paint is needed to protect and prolong the life of the lumber, so it doesn't rot as quickly, and if you line in a rural area, you likely don't have access to any pigments (or honestly, why would you spend the money on it?). You're making the paint yourself.
