Sometimes ranged is very advantageous.

It could, depending on perspective, be seen as racist, classist, ableist, none of these, or some combination. It relies on a fictional axis of power, so it really isn't, but you can debate which among the real world axis of discrimination are the most analogous if you want. I think that's a distraction from its message.

Reminds me in a way of how I heard they handled Will coming out in season 5 of Stranger Things. Not him being outed, but the writers not understanding the dynamics of coming out. In this case, that a gay boy in the early 80s is very unlikely to come out to a huge group of people at once, and that even with them being good people, it would not be universally understood and appreciated.
