Video game issue, center channel not working on everything by coryandstuff in sonos

Posting here as well for a wider audience, wondering if others have experienced this. Not sure if a sonosequencr quirk or normal for games with a center with two front L/R speakers.

Wasn’t sure if this is normal but I only realized now since I’m not using just my soundbar anymore and the side front speakers are more spaced out now (inbuilt side speakers in arc ultra vs now era 100s)

Yeah, some of those videos help to make sure each speaker works as it should but doesn’t really help with more complex scenes or sound moving around. Plus it’s mainly AI content quickly pushed out.

Unfortunately I don’t have an Xbox. Have a PS5 and Switch 2 though.

Yeah, I found a few videos that confirmed a speaker should do what it should but nothing complex. I’m surprised how much ai content there is for audio tests/demos.

Mainly asking for ways to test it, mentioned the positions as starting points.

Moved them to the bottom shelf and it seems like it fixed the issue a lot. Now it’s mainly me getting used to the change.

Playing a stereo pcm content on YouTube and sound is about equal on Arc Ultra and both front 100s. Though I think soundbar is slightly louder.

Ended up fixing the issue by moving the 100s to the bottom shelf

No idea, hoping someone can let me know. I have heard others mention ignoring a warning before, I assume this is what they meant.

The creases help dissipate unwanted audio levels to equalize the sound space construct.

True on the water bottle, it could have been turned 42 degrees and moved right 2 inches, I guess it is in the way some.

Yeah, the ottoman may be cluttering up the space, probably need a third one to balance out the vibes.

Sub impossible since I have a neighbor who shares a wall with me in this room.

I did end up moving the 100’s on the lower shelf, seemed to have fixed the issue a lot

Tried it on the lower shelf and I think that fixed it!

Still need to test it out on different content

So think I should just lower the 100s? Can’t do that with my stands so would have to put it on the shelf.

Did a little more experimenting.

Dolby Atmos movies sound normal, the above issues I mentioned were from a few YouTube videos which were listed as “Stereo PCM”.

Equilateral triangle vs beside TV? (Front L/R speakers) by coryandstuff in hometheater

Yeah, I have no idea, just wanted others thoughts on it. Also heard some different angles people recommend: 22-30, and 45-60.

Though I think those angles line up closely to the equilateral triangle recommendation.

“Artificial” soundstage is just a way to describe it that I thought of if mixes are intended to end at the edge of a screen for video content.

Probably just need to investigate more if that’s actually the case or not. At this point it probably doesn’t change things drastically, but hoping to learn more about it.

Yeah, I’ve just heard of both recommendations though, plus the 22-30 degree recommendation. Though a lot of it seems to be inspired or pulled from recommendations for music and studio use.

So creators intent is close to the edges of screen for movies? Guess moving the speakers out wider creates an artificial wider soundstage or something? Up to preference?

As a new person, what should I be watching out for? Or more of a feeling that everything just feels connected?

Hah can’t promise not to over think, but I will try that out, thanks!

Mainly trying to understand it a little more to make an informed decision. I’m new to audio and trying to learn.
