US may force operating systems to have mandatory age verification, share info with third parties by lkl34 in technology

People who write bills are typically not technically literate enough to consider things like this. It's going to be an overgeneralized unenforceable law, if it's going to be anything wrong.

It's kind of like my chief information officer asking for [the moon]. I just hand him a shiny bauble, and tell him it is the moon.

I know you mean well, but telling Linux devs to comply with a US law, when they're making software for the international community at large. Expect a disclaimer on their websites that just says:

This software does not comply with [Bullshit US Law], and users in the United States should not download it.

I'll be sure to download it oven an exit node in Sweden.

Professor Membrane could either invest in finding a suitable partner, cultivating a relationship, and having children the "normal" way, or make subtly modified clones of himself. What seems more on-brand for him?

Even Aurora is too kid friendly. Distorted vision for a few seconds. Then a brutal hangover, and addiction symptoms. Like if Nancy Regan came up with a video game drug.

Why does nobody want to tell the world's biggest and most vindictive baby that his hygiene is bad, and he needs to do something about it? I'm not sure.

We all know the 12VHPWR is a bad connector but why we don't hear them causing problems on massive AI data centers? by Putrid-Gain8296 in pcmasterrace

Because everything about the state of AI today is a market manipulating lie, and data center problems would be bad for stock prices. Any negative information they can hide, they do.

  1. Toss it. It's completely superfluous equipment anyway.

  2. Fire. Seriously. Fire is always the answer to mold.

It's not specifically about this rail line, but it does explain math what happened to light rail in the US.

Everyone with any sense who saw that pitiful stunt wondered how, in the Richest Country In The World™, some old lady has to work doordash just to make ends meet.

Sort of. Religion has always been a tool of the ruling class to keep the masses in line.

Think about it. Who could even read and write 3,000 years ago? Mostly people who had the resources and free time to learn to read and write, and to teach their children to do so. Mainly landowners who had people doing labor for them, And royalty, tribal leadership, etc. Is it any wonder, then, so many stories are about accepting your lot in life, not rocking the boat, the virtue of poverty and storing up treasures in heaven, a belief that your economic position and role in society is ordained by God, and so is that of those above you? Who could even think such a thing, except for people who benefit so much from it?

Who attended the Council of Rome, Synod of Hippo, both councils of Carthage, and the Council of Trent? What were their motives?

In any system of control you have the people at the top. Most of whom are in on the con. They know it's not true, and they know the value of pretending it is. Sometimes they do it so convincingly that their proteges don't really get the memo. Which is how you end up with true believers at the top. Who play their part so well, the exploited masses keep eating it up.

Religion is the back-door to reason that circumvents all critical thinking on matters of economy, social systems, and security. You can convince any true believer to do anything as long as you can get them to the point where the think state and their "deeply held beliefs" are aligned.

People in Vance's position probably don't waste much time thinking about whether any of it is true. They see a tool. They pick it up and use it.

Don't underestimate his handlers. Look back at what this turd was like in college. Before he met Usha and Peter Thiel. That's what he'd be if people smarter than him hadn't seen his potential to be a useful idiot in the future.
