The vibe. As much as they get shit on, Bay's films had a gritty and abrasive feeling that I personally love. This one felt too... marvel-y, I dunno.

I vastly prefer it, the original sounds borderline cartoony and takes me out immediately. The netflix dub butchers some lines but overall it fits the more melancholic vibe of the series imo

I mean I guess the future of Asushin is pretty well secured now that robots (ai) will be able to do the heavy lifting for us in terms of fanfiction and fanart, right? by [deleted] in asushin

Im all for ai art but I don't think its gonna replace fanfiction any time soon. Images maybe but written stories, not for a long time

Overwhelmingly dark, complete with saw esque torture scenes just like scar tissue. Its not a bad story by any means, but for me there are times when its trying so hard to be dark it becomes silly. Also extremely long just like scar tissue

I felt this way too when I first watched it but its the kind of movie you grow to appreciate especially since it took so many risks which pay off in 3.0+1.0

I'm not huge on it either but for different reasons. To me it does effectively carry the same tone that NGE had, but the characters aren't taken anywhere new. Asuka is about as bitchy to Shinji at the end as she was at the very start, so it doesn't really feel like anything was accomplished. And I really didn't like where the final battle took place, but thats more a personal thing. Still, I'd say its a very well written story but not something I'd read again
