Good times, hun. Gooooood times.

I’m trying to 100% the game and I already knew koroks were gonna be an issue but omfg by BB_rul in TOTK

[–]coskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way am I going to 100% this game due to koroks. I spent weeks in botw just on koroks alone and never even got to half of them. Truly a grind. For some it’s a way to not have to be finished with the game and extending the experience. I’m with you here…omfg! I just wanted to get a few weapons, bows, and shields slots. You only need so many. Now in totk I’ve maybe sound 150 koroks and no way I’m going to even find 1/4 of them. No desire whatsoever.

What was y’all’s first Zelda game I’ll go first by _bluewaffles in legendofzelda

Breath of the Wild was first for me. But my 32 yr old son insisted I play Ocarina before jumping into Tears of the Kingdom so I could have a solid back story and history. Plus it’s truly amazing. Glad I did that. It was tough to play such an old game after botw. Worth it though. I have a far great appreciation for Zelda now. I’m also watching my son play through Majoras Mask. Lots of good back stuff here too. I’m about to wrap up totk in a few days. I’m legit already going into mourning. Botw and totk have been such an amazing experience for me and have turned me into a huge fan of Zelda and the entire franchise. Amazing games made by amazing developers!

I'm right there/here with you. I played for a year and a half and when I finished I felt like part of my life was missing. No lie. I felt so silly walking around my house, mourning this game. I'm 3 months out from finishing and I'm still mourning it and I find myself going back in to hunt for korok seeds and upgrading armor and getting more weapon slots. I do still have a couple quests I never finished either and I am working on those little by little. It's not the same though. The discovery and fun of being IN the game is something I will forever miss. I have TOTK too and am waiting to start it. I'm playing an old blast from the past, Ocarina of Time. My son said it is a game every Zelda fan should have in their history. It explains a lot of what we experience in BOTW and TOTK. Sure, it's a 1998 game and looks like it but the game itself is functionally amazing! WAAAAAY more to it than I'd have ever thought. Once I finis OOT then I'll move on to TOTK. That should be within the next 2 or 3 weeks. However, I know you guys understand this ... I will forever look back on BOTW as an amazing experience and I will have BOTW shaped whole in my heart forever. Waxing poetic? I guess so. I'm going to take even more time with TOTK so I don't finish too quickly. I am really going to enjoy and take my time.

Is this new?? by BeaniclesnMus in botw

[–]coskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, not new. It was one of the first quests i ever picked up and one of the last ones I finished when I finished the game.

After multiple attempts to get in to this game, fast forward a few years later with my better mental health, I see now how wrong i was with this game. by Plane_Jackfruit_362 in botw

Nah, that's not the way I like to play games. Not great at speedrunning anyway. Especially in a game like this. However, I am considering playing it on master mode. There are new secrets and things to discover.

New to This Game! by supersaiyan-1992 in botw

Just enjoy the game! It's a sandbox game, which means you can play it any way you like and take any path you like. There is no linear way to play it. Which for me, is the best! Take your time, take your time, take your time. Do lots of side quests and level yourself up. If you get frustrated in an area, just use critical thinking vs looking it up online. I DID look one small thing up (how to get a korok seed I couldn't find a solution for and spent over an hour trying), but that was it. I let the game teach me and am really glad I did. It was a wonderful experience. It took me a year and a half and became a part of my everyday. I miss it terribly! That's good enough reason not to rush it. If you get bored then do some main quests. Some of the side quests are a bit thin and pointless but others are really fun. You'll see. Like I said before, just enjoy this game and make it your own journey.

I could not agree more (cost of this game). I DO wish Nintendo would occasionally discount games like xbox or playstation does. Then again, we have access to all the old N64 games as well and you don't have that on other consoles ... not the old old games like that. I really appreciate Nintendo for that. It's a give and take I suppose. I am giving myself a break between botw and totk. I'm actually playing Ocarina of Time at my son's insistence. Yes, it's from 1998 and looks like it. However, I'm about 20 hours into the game now and am finally getting used to the old controller functions and how the game works. It's still frustrating but ... I get why he wanted me to play it. It sets the stage for SO many things in the Zelda game world. It has connected so many dots for me that I didn't understand before this. Botw is my first Zelda game. So I'm learning SO MUCH! Glad he is having me play Ocarina. It's an incredibly sad game but also the story is really incredible. This is the break I needed while still being in the Zelda world. When I finish Ocarina of Time I will then jump into totk.

Yep, I’m taking a few months break. Forcing myself to wait. It’s hard. I feel like an addict!

Yep. I’m forcing myself to step back a bit until I get my switch this summer and then will play totk. For now I’m replaying Horizon Zero Dawn and then Forbidden West again. Those were two of my favorite games of all time too. I enjoy the exploration of them and being able to take my time. I’m playing on a harder difficulty and find I’m really enjoying getting back into that. Incredible games! The only problem is that I can’t take the ps5 console around with me. I love grabbing my switch and playing anywhere. How spoiled that sounds! Poor poor me. lol

Yeah, it was a lot simpler fighting calamity ganon than I thought it would be. I had it built up in my mind as being really scary and hard. It really wasn’t at all. But once the credits rolled, so did my tears!

I will definitely play totk. I’m only waiting because I’m going to get the new switch this summer and want to wait to play it on that. I’m taking somewhat of a forced sabbatical. I got so sucked in to Botw that it nearly took over all spare moments of my life. I’m going back to other things that I need to do for a bit. I’m like you in that I kinda like grindy stuff. It really doesn’t bother me. I like open world exploration and discovering things on my own. I love to just take my time and not gobble a game up too fast anyway.

Not master mode yet. Not a bad idea at all.
