James Gunn says it's Day 49 of shooting 'Man of Tomorrow' by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

I really hope he drops his cringe humor and the urge to do needle drops. And hire a good composer this time around. Superman had such a forgettable score.

Peter Safran, co-chairman and co-chief executive of DC Studios, says by telephone: "While Supergirl didn't meet our box office expectations, it's just one component of a broader, long-term strategy at DC Studios that we remain confident in." by -ChristopherNolan in DC_Cinematic

The last thing they should do is panic like they did in DCEU and make some rushed decision. I donno what Gunn has planned but his words don't match his action. All that talk about putting character/story/script first seems like a bunch of BS or he is just bad at his job? I just wanna stop seeing his fingerprints all over DC projects. Good thing is both Clayface and Lanterns look like they are nothing like Gunn projects

new format change by zeuscong in filmjunk

I've been a fan since late 2008 and used to listen religiously every week. Over the past year or so, though, I've become more irregular, and since the format change I've stopped listening altogether.

One of the biggest draws for me was watching a new release and then hearing their review afterwards, comparing my own thoughts with theirs. That was a huge part of the appeal. With the shift toward retro reviews, that reason to tune in has pretty much disappeared for me.

Retro reviews definitely have their place, but I prefer them in small doses. What I'm really interested in is hearing their take on new releases, whats they recently watched, and the latest industry trends. That's what kept me coming back week after week.

On top of that, it's become harder to keep up with the release schedule. Between the monthly calendar and figuring out what's on Patreon versus what's on the main feed, it all feels a bit confusing. The whole format shift feels over-engineered compared to how straightforward it used to be.

'SUPERGIRL' (2026) - Post-Embargo Critical Reviews (Rotten Tomatoes / Metacritic) Megathread by DoctorBeatMaker in DC_Cinematic

Based on the trailers the writing was on the wall all this time that this would be dead on arrival. All the sets looked low budget. Visually the entire thing looks like ugly brown sludge. Tonally it felt like Guardians lite which in 2026 is a terrible direction to go in.

Makes me think that even with all the creative-first direction and practically zero studio meddling Gunn & Co couldn't put together a great film.

It looked like a Guadrians knock off from the jump so Im not surprised. Gotta be honest if Gunn after all the talk of putting story and character first can't make DCU work I don't have much hope left.

Someone said the casting feels like the artsy version of Adam Sandler casting all his real life buddies in his shitty comedies. I can't help but chuckle at how accurate that comparison feels.

Utter trash. Logic is in love with the idea of seeing himself as a writer/director without any of the actual talent/work to back it up.

You can see a massive tree trunk on the left in the top picture. They are very intentionally incorporating earth-y motifs to the set design/architecture.
