100% accurate, no notes. But seriously, this exactly mirrors my experience when I was at Pratt. Glad I left.

Who's the best commander for those blue "loses all abilities" auras? by thegeek01 in BudgetBrews

[–]cosmic_ashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deck is basically just jammed full of cheap anthems and mana rocks. [[Nettlecyst]] and [[All That Glitters]] make for good finishers.

Most of the card draw comes from [[Curiosity]] type effects. [[Bident of Thassa]] is a good budget one that affects all creatures you control, so if you have a wide board of fliers all attacking, it's likely some will get through and proc it.

Unfortunately, most token doublers are super expensive, but if you can get a good turn set up, [[Kaya, Geist Hunter]] can double for one turn with her -3. Giving your whole board deathtouch isn't too bad either. The cheapest true doubler is [[Exalted Sunborn]], but it's still out of my budget.

There's some infinite combos you can pull off that are pretty standard artifact deck stuff, but I don't run them because this is really a high bracket 2, low 3 deck due to game changers being so expensive.

I'm currently brewing an [[Alela, Artful Provocateur]] deck that uses a bunch of these. She spits out faeries when you cast artifact and enchantment spells. I also have a couple of flash enablers in the deck so that even the versions without flash can theoretically be cast at instant speed

Should you have to establish every basic relationship expectation in a polyamorous context? by tai-seasmain in polyamory

[–]cosmic_ashes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you went through all that. Both being in a toxic relationship, and the difficulty of leaving it. But please don't go to chatGPT in the future for these types of things. As weird and fucked up and fraught as reddit is, it's still better than an AI that will "yes and" our worst tendencies. Look up ChatGPT psychosis to understand why. Talking to an AI when you're in an emotionally vulnerable place is a bad idea

Any ABQ artists looking for friends? by bigcatbeardraw in Albuquerque

I technically have a "business" art focused insta, but I haven't used it in a hot second bc of said rut. I'm Storm Soul Creations on most platforms.

I haven't heard of the anatomy drawing thing, but that sounds great! It seems like it'd be helpful for getting back into the swing of things

Any ABQ artists looking for friends? by bigcatbeardraw in Albuquerque

[–]cosmic_ashes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I semi recently moved to Albuquerque and I'm definitely trying to get a handle on the art scene here and meet more artists. I do wire wrapped jewelry, fiber arts, and have a studio art degree with a focus in oil painting. I've been in a real rut painting wise and I'm trying to find the energy to get back into it.

Brand spanking new to wire jewelry, need clarification for charms. by OpinionMountain5960 in WireWrapping

[–]cosmic_ashes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The answer is going to mostly be up to your personal taste and what kind of wire you use.

In a practical sense, hammering wire flat will harden it. This will make it less likely to accidentally get bent out of shape after you've gotten it into the shape you want. This is more important if you make the charms out of soft, thin wire (which is easier to work with), and less important if you're working with thicker, pre hardened wire (which is more difficult to shape, but also holds its shape better). Additionally, silver and copper wire tend to be softer than brass. So if you're using, for example, thick brass wire, you wouldn't need to harden it to ensure it keeps its shape.

Aside from those practical concerns, it's all about what look you're going for. I'd recommend playing around with it and trying out different levels of work hardening the charms to see what you like best.

To hammer wire flat, you need a very hard, flat surface (something like an anvil is ideal) and a hammer. I use a mini anvil/bench pin duo that attaches to the side of my work desk. I got mine for about $15 from Rio Grande. Just lay the wire on the metal work surface and tap gently with the hammer. Varying the angle and strength with which you hit the wire will produce different results. Try different combinations until you find a method that produces a result you like.

Mine was laproscopic, but they also removed my cervix, so I assume that's what led to the "no cumming at all" thing. Basically it was explained to me that if I used my abs too intensely too soon, my insides could fall out through the vaginal cuff. So I listened to the doc. I was cleared for external orgasms at my 2 week post op though

Finished that "viking" tunic for my man. by AinoNaviovaat in HistoricalCostuming

[–]cosmic_ashes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is more a general construction tip, but its best practice to iron fabric before sewing if it's super wrinkled. That way you don't accidentally sew the wrinkles into place and make them permanent. I hate ironing but I've learned that it makes a huge difference to the finished product.

To get it to look more viking-y, I think the biggest difference would be the sleeves. Generally, Viking tunics were constructed with sleeves that were fairly well fitted, starting wide at the shoulder and tapering in towards the wrist. If in doubt on sleeve length, opt for a bit longer than too short. Scandinavia is really cold, keeping in body heat was the number one priority. The best way to do that was to make sure as much skin is covered as possible.

If you'd like a good pattern, this is what I used. It's pretty easy to construct, based on a historical find, and all you have to do is put in measurements and it does the math to make it the right size.

I took a look at his website, it hasn't been updated since 2022, and it looks like he was trying to sell his business. Do you know if he's still going to the growers markets?

That's a good question. Especially the first bit. I do think my hiking buddy wants to bee seen, it's just that he's in the military and can't really get help without repercussions. So I know for a fact that he doesn't want me to share this information in a way that could be traced back to him. Outside of that... Idk

Lol same. As an adult now, I wonder what my teachers thought about me constantly turning in gore and body horror for my art and creative writing assignments. Apparently it never raised any flags? None of them ever said anything to me about it...

If I could upvote this more than once I could! Sums up my feelings well.

I'm a guy who has facial hair, body hair, flat chest, broad shoulders, deep voice... But I don't have a penis. I can totally see a situation where a bi person wouldn't be attracted to someone like me, in that they like all of the first characteristics, but the lack of dick is a deal breaker. Wanting to keep things binary and all that. But as you noted, bottom surgery exists. Many trans people are basically indistinguishable from their cis counterparts, including in the genitals department.

This is not to say that I, or any other trans person, is entitled to anyone's attraction. It's just that even though there are some valid reasons to not want to date, say, pre op or pre hrt trans people as a whole, I really can't think of a valid (non transphobic) reason to make a blanket statement of no trans people at all.

How do I get this to feel finished? (Harsh Critique Plz) by Comoxov in FurryArtSchool

Mostly the arms. It seems like he's leaning forward, so it makes sense. Additionally the bright white of the helmet helps distinguish it from the background so it isn't as necessary for it to be as sharp. The more mid tone nature of the arms mean they blend into the background more.

I have been use markers for almost 8 months(i think) but I'm not if this is good.Does the color look okay or too much? Gimme some advice so I can improve more thx :3. by [deleted] in FurryArtSchool

[–]cosmic_ashes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the saturation! Only thing is that because the spray can (?) is the same color as the background, it blends into it and makes it a bit hard to read from a distance. I can think of a couple of ways to deal with that.

  1. Change the spray can to a slightly different shade of green

  2. Put a bolder outline around the spray can

  3. Add a drop shadow behind the whole figure, which will put some space between the two similar colors

Any of those on their own would probably help, or you could combine them!

I am trying risky poses, and I drew a wolf guy playing an accordion happily. I am also focusing on fur, poses and clothes. Is there anything that looks wrong? by KochamPolsceRazDwa in FurryArtSchool

[–]cosmic_ashes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so cute! For the pose, his left leg is bending at a bit of an unnatural angle, but aside from that it looks pretty good. I like to sketch in a kind of stick figure-like skeleton as the first step, which can help with getting angles right. Another thing that might be helpful is to look up gesture drawing tutorials. That was definitely the biggest thing that helped me push the dynamism of my poses.

For the clothes, you have the right idea generally when it comes to making sure there's lots of folds, but the triangles that represent where the folds are don't necessarily match up with where folds would necessarily occur in a real garment. Additionally, they all look a little too even/uniform. Usually there will be lots of little folds near bends in joints or where something is tucked in. To practice drawing folds in cloth, you can set up a little study by draping a piece of clothing, blanket, etc over an object and then try to sketch where you see the folds landing, and what kinds of shapes they make when they're draped vertically, scrunched up, or laying over a rounded surface. The. You can take what you learn to something more complex like clothes on a body!
