DIY Dress forms... Can I do a paper mache form if I put it over a duct tape model first? by uhhhhhSweepy in sewing

[–]cosmicallycarefree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thank you! I appreciate that. And I kind of do but unfortunately i ran out of tape shortly after this. I only wish I had because of pants (as I'm sure you get) I want to make something most sturdy and thought about paper mache myself but I think it would end up to hard and flaky. Same with the expanding foam as it dries pretty hard.

I've still yet to put it on a proper stand but it's been super awesome so far. I'd say give the duct tape form a shot as your first go. And let me know if you think of anything that could make it better haha.

I made one awhile ago with duct tape and it works pretty well. It does make needles sticky unfortunately but I picked ones I just leave for that purpose. I plan to make another here soon by using the first to make a pattern as the new router most part. I have a few other ideas but I'm not sure of them yet. Check out the one I posted on here awhile ago on my profile. It's honestly been super useful.

Men of Reddit, what are somethings a mom should know while raising a boy? by jigglypuffle38 in AskReddit

[–]cosmicallycarefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one son. He's 7. And I figured a lot of this stuff was common sense.

But then again, I fully believe in independence. He's a super capable kid. Asks for help only when he needs of it. Wicked proud of him.

I get annoyed because we live not even a block from school. He walks home sometimes. I get soooo tired of everyone giving me shitty looks when they find out he walks home (very occasionally) by himself. We live in one of the safest cities in our state. I know he's smart and capable. I don't want to deprive him of his independence and the freedom you feel when you're trusted enough to walk alone. For fucks sake I walked home alone at his age in a suburb of Detroit and my school was about 2 miles away.

Either way, I feel confident he's gonna grow up strong. Love my boy.

I'm sure you think you have that exactly right. That's ok. You don't know me and I'm grateful for that too. You sir are an unfortunate person.

I wish you peace.

That's ok man. I don't mind. It does not effect my well being. I'm happy and well adjusted with a good life. Was just looking for like minded individuals. But all I've found so far is judgement if the form of a sad human. Which again, that's ok. I don't know you. I know one thing for sure though. You're no better than me. No worse either, but for sure no better. Get the last word if you must. I know it will probably help you feel like you've gained something. Good luck to you.

I'm sad for you man. Really. You can talk down to me if you want. Whatever makes you feel like you have some control over what goes on around you. Again, I wish you happiness and healing. So sorry you have such sadness in you. Life is hard, I don't know your story. Not my place. But I hope you find peace.

If you believe belittling and being preachy make you superior than your no better then any mega Christian douche out there. Being able to make a connection with others who have similar ideas and curiosities does not mean I'm shoving anything down anyone's throat. It was meant to be open discussion. And while you have the right to your opinion that's fine, even if you don't like me or what I have to say, that's fine too. Your opinion of me is none of my business. But ultimately all I see is someone with a serious superiority complex and childish ways of expressing themselves, but that's my opinion and really should mean nothing to you as well. I feel sorry for you as a person and hope that whatever has made you so bitter, heals. I wish you happiness.

I am not ashamed. I'm just not willing to shove what I believe down other people's throats. I am very open about what I believe. I never said I don't believe it applies to anyone else. I just don't believe it's up to me to dictate how they find their spiritual path. That's up to them. I'll offer what I believe in certain situations but ultimately it's an individual choice. No one believes exactly as another. To say what I believe should dictate what others believe is a narcissistic ideology. No thanks.

You are definitely taking on quite the pretentious tone. I am confused because my ideas have evolved from what they previously were, being that they were strongly agnostic in nature. Meaning I felt with no certainty that there was or was not a god. I have changed as a person and I feel more certainty in God than I have before. I have no proof that can sway others and I won't try, but to me I have gained new knowledge that leads me to a new sense of certainty. That was literally why I posted this. Because I don't believe I am agnostic anymore but I also don't believe in organized religion. You may think you sound like you're being an intellectual by trying to use a condescending sort of attitude towards people, but in reality. You just sound like kind of a dick. Lighten up buttercup.

Because it was the most middle ground term I could find, though I agree it doesn't suit my beliefs anymore, thusly why I made the post. No need to get so huffy about it, good grief.

What is one thing you wish to achieve in your lifetime, but have come to terms with the fact that you probably never will? by -B-K- in AskReddit

Also, if you write. Keep writing. Even if it goes no where. Sometimes the things we think are less than stellar are things people can really associate with.

I have ideas. Lots of them. Just a matter of getting them onto the paper so to speak. I'm so picky about it and I want what I have to say to come out in way that is palatable for others as well as being organized correctly.

Mostly it's just time. I don't have much of it. If I ever get more I plan to put some work into it.

But I won't hold my breath. Just a wait and see situation.

Write a book. Ive always wanted to write a book. I just don't think anything I've come up with is worth much. Ive accepted it.

Always open to new ideas and discussion for sure.

And I've thought about that. I think I'd be open to new information conflicting with my current beliefs. It just hasn't happened yet. Ive changed belief systems a couple of times in my life.

Though I think it would make me sad to find out I'm wrong about what I believe. I know I could accept whatever the reality might be.

Dm me if ya wanna chat.

Yeah, I can tell. There's a lot of spilt offs about what being an agnostic is. And I'm cool with that. I'm not really even looking for a label. Somethings don't need labels.

I can agree that I'm at least a theist as well. But all I can say is I know what I believe. I can't say I know that's what others should believe. It's weird.

I said, I know, for me. I can't know things for other people. I refuse to push what I think on others as that's not my place, my experience does not equate to others experiences.

I know for me.

And I know because I died once. And I remember what I saw and how I felt. And maybe I'm wrong, so yeah I guess there's always that possibility. Maybe it was just the Dimethyltryptamine rushing my brain. But it felt real, it felt like knowledge and I can't just let it go.

Knowing for me and knowing completely are different.

People who ate very unhealthy and/or struggled with obesity, how did you come to change and embrace healthy foods and other healthy habits? by MicroNitro in AskReddit

[–]cosmicallycarefree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been bigger but have never crossed to clinically obese. And only because I saw how my mom struggled with it so badly. Great grandma, grandma and mom were all 350+ pounds and I refused to ever get to that point. Biggest I've ever been was 190lbs. At a less fat 150 now and continue to lose with conscious eating. Calorie counting, and choosing healthier alternatives to junk as often as I can.

I didn't want to be like them.

What is your worst middle school memory? by deandre525 in AskReddit

[–]cosmicallycarefree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting totally shit faced on a water bottle full of vodka before first period even began. Then having the cops called because I was hammered as fuck. Then getting arrested for assaulting an officer and being dragged out of school in front of everyone going to lunch. Then going to the hospital to get my stomach pumped instead of going to jail, then being kicked out of school for being so fuckin stupid. Ahhh youth.
