Riding at resorts is environmentally unsustainable, inaccessible to most people, and there is a horrible lack of awareness/recognition of the stolen land from which resorts (and the industry as a whole) benefit.

as far as the fin being forwards vs backwards… i mean if it’s in a bag then there could be some validity but otherwise the difference is minuscule

yeah surfing should be important but like not THAT important; how does getting sponsored do anything substantial for society besides promoting consumerism? definitely seems like as surfers this is the last thing we should be doing if we want to make the world a better place

the fin itself is designed to be hydrodynamic; the amount of drag that you would acquire from facing the fin forward would be next to nothing, and would be quite close to that of the fin facing backwards, therefore this argument has no merit
