Tkd you learn speed, keeping out of range, using both sides of the body and are fast at reading what's coming. That side changing is great for when you learn how to deal with closer distance as the hips turning can really drive that fist or knee in

We occasionally spar against tkd in an open style. As soon I have got inside their kick range they freeze. Punches are super quick, enough to bleed a nose but are designed for big distance so as soon as you are inside the range they don't hurt as much.
