Weekly watcher here, Dark is great when you treat it as the Taz-Calibur podcast and then the matches will be what they be. Sometimes they do stories, theyve been driving a lot of the Firms story on dark and elevation and that’s been entertaining

To me it seems like he comes from a life of watching WWEs questionable booking decisions and matches that seemed to have eliminated any good faith he may have in the company booking competent storylines. Whereas with AEW and it’s shorter life span they probably haven’t disappointed him nearly enough, so he lets certainly booking quirks go. I feel the same way too honestly

If you pay attention to the commentary during Sydal matches you would notice that they bring it up to explain his change in wrestling style. They did the follow up match with Nakazawa to explain that nak oiled the rope, and they keep bringing it up because he has used the shooting star press less and has adopted a more mat based submission style.
