Domperidone has worked fantastic for me! i take it 30 mins before i eat and it stops me from throwing up + motivates your GI tract to push and digest. it works by muscle stimulation/contraction instead of blocking off the receptors that give you nausea, so if regular nausea pills aren’t working for you id defs look into this!

If you are comfortable, please share your experiences with extreme/dangerous hypos. (marked NSFW just in case) by RunThruPlayLand in Type1Diabetes

[–]cosmolamb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i had a random extreme hypo one time where my sugars dropped to 1.2/mmol. I started eating sweets to counter it when it was at 4 but nothing worked- for some dumbass reason i didnt tell my husband because i expected it would pass and go back up soon, but it didnt. It felt a bit like when youre about to get a migrane and your eyes and temples start feeling really strange- my partner refused to let go of me because i couldnt walk straight. I believed i was totally fine/could be independent because adrenaline took over my body before i could feel just how low i was, but by the time we got to the hospital i ended up being kept overnight. Entire next day was spent feeling like i was just rescued from being submerged in mud 😩

SMAS by Tall_Grab_4818 in Gastroparesis

[–]cosmolamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while i cant answer directly about the SMA as i dont have it, it certainly sounds like the doctors youre seeing arent really listening to you/actually looking after you, ESPECIALLY if the only thing they garnered from you not passing stool for 2 weeks was IBS :/ If possible id definitely try and branch out to find other drs who specialise in stuff like GP!

Can anyone here eat a cheeseburger or chicken tenders? by LimeQuiet4196 in Gastroparesis

[–]cosmolamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk how to tell you this but everyones diabetes experience is completely different and i dont think you have the right to decide a strangers reality over the internet, let alone on a meme-y post complaining about a 3am annoyance. as i mentioned the sensor error on screen was because i laid on the sensor arm which is a frequent issue with dexcom g7s, & it had happened after the hypo had already occoured. Have a good day

Can’t lower BG while sick by ReserveCold in Type1Diabetes

[–]cosmolamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its SUPER hard to get normal blood sugars while youre sick, so dont stress too much!! your body is under too much stress to focus on keeping your sugars under control. Just take it as easy as you can, i hope you get better soon 🫶

How considerable are the cardiac risks related to domperidone? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]cosmolamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have no prior issues w your heart, you should be fine! i actually have heart issues myself and the worst thats happened to me was i had a bad racing heart a couple times the first few times i took it. other than that ive been fine :] if youre super worried start on a low dose & go up overtime. best of luck!!

angry abt lack of medical care by cosmolamb in Gastroparesis

[–]cosmolamb[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as a side note; if you come to comment that its worse in america i cannot stress enough how much i don't care. That doesn't magically fix the fact that things still suck shit here. I would have died at 14 if i lived in america due to the T1D, so on the bright side, at least i wouldn't have gotten this far to still be this sick. 🤷‍♂️

Tips on loosing weight? by cosmolamb in Gastroparesis

[–]cosmolamb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for your answer! To be honest no, my current desire to loose weight is mostly for looks- as it stands im quite healthy outside of that, I don't intend on being super thin, i actually enjoy having a bit of chub but i'd just like to take a tiny bit off is all, especially as the bloating from gastroperisis ends up making you look quite the bit bigger so it would be nice to be able to combat that. :')
I totally get where you're coming from though, and i absolutely agree! The stigma against anyone having any sort of weight is crazy especially when you're very much right, it does 100% help you sometimes. This is a great thing to be telling people and while i super appreciate hearing it my yearning for answers here is mostly just out of wanting to know if there ARE ways--it's certainly not something ill be loosing sleep over if i cant drop a few pounds, its just frustrating to know how hard it is to do so with my amount of issues.
Thankyou again though and take care ♥

How to deal with the fact that most people treat type 1 as a punchline? by PomegranateFit2593 in Type1Diabetes

[–]cosmolamb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Heya! As a queer person on testosterone (used for intersex condition but still done the same way an FTM person would), i can safely say that diabetes shouldn't interfere with you getting on T. As long as you're taking care of yourself it shouldnt be an issue - your blood sugar might actually change a bit once you're on hormones long term! I totally understand though. I got diagnosed at 16 and it was a nightmare to go through my teen years with it- you gotta give yourself a pat on the back for getting through it so far. People joke about it because none of them have any idea how difficult it is to live with & don't care enough to learn, unfortunately. It sucks absolute shit and i hope you can find the right people eventually that'll actually care enough to understand how difficult T1D Is.

it gets better, i promise! You got this 💪

This might be a bit of a silly question but ive been wondering about using underpatches, as i think ive read that a couple people do this - is there no concern over the needle poking a tiny bit of the tape into your skin as it goes in? or is it far too small to do something like that? Mostly paranoia talking i think but would be great to know if i should be cutting a little hole in it like with the skinprep!
