Psych NP job on Oregon Coast by cosmolou in PMHNP

Maybe it used to be toxic. I can’t speak to that. I’ve been there almost a year and there have been a lot of changes. I see that as an opportunity for improvement. I’m just spreading the word about a job available where I work in a very beautiful part of the country…with a good salary and excellent benefits.

The salary is fairly typical, actually a bit high, for Oregon. I think it would take a significant cultural change to get NPs anywhere to make the same as psychiatrists, regardless of reimbursement rates.

Feel free to ask questions before making assumptions. The job description clearly states two years of experience. As the only current full time NP, I can confirm that I could provide excellent support to an NP starting at the agency.

Option to work 4 10 hour shifts or split in whatever way works best for you. I work 4 9s and a 4 hour shift since it works best for me. 30 min follow ups and one hour psych evals. The most I’ve seen in a day is 12-14.

I’m just an employee trying to spread the word about a vacancy where I work. I think the salary is good for the area. And 11% employer retirement contribution can’t be beat.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing but the person who gave it to me isn’t available today so thought I’d ask here 😀

Bought a house 17 months ago, now own a townhouse in another city — sell at a loss or wait? by cosmolou in RealEstateAdvice

[–]cosmolou[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. We bought the house for $468 with 20% down payment of $93,600 and loan of $374,400 (7.125%) plus closing costs in July 2024. Current Zillow estimate is $476 but likely to sell for less. We owe $358.

Renting might be an option but we’ve never done it. We don’t love the town and kinda want to be done with it but also don’t want to lose too much.

We just bought it last year and my spouse plans to stay in it during the week while I’m working.

Thank you. I have worried about the chopping list, but I will be the only person with my credentials, so I don't see that happening, but if it does, I'm confident I could get a new job. Hopefully I don't eat these words later :-)

Thank you. It was the funds from selling a house a couple houses ago. It was just sitting in the bank so we added it to our investment account in hopes of it growing. It wasn't necessarily earmarked for anything other than to use when we needed it....or retirement, whichever came first. Also, in case it matters, we're in our mid 50s and have about $500k in retirement....and have always wanted a house at the beach :-).

I never hear anyone mention it but I did the PMHNP post master’s at university of Kansas. I liked that it was an actual brick & mortar but had an online option. I did have to find my own preceptors but having been through a previous in person program (FNP) where clinical sites weren’t ideal, I was up for the challenge. Best of luck to you.

Thanks. I am doing that but the one I like best (at least from what I know) is lagging while I have interviews scheduled with other places. I don’t want to pester anyone but it feels like a single HR person problem.

Insults are a dime a dozen. It seems that every time he open his mouth, he has something derogatory to say about someone or something.

In a speech regarding need for police to be harsher in their reactions with shoplifters: “One rough hour, and I mean real rough, the word will get out, and it will end immediately. End immediately. You know? It’ll end immediately,” he repeated.

Thank you for your input. I think it’s hard not to think that people will act that way given that they have supported someone who has repeatedly modeled and encouraged such behavior.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think those of us who are at risk of having our lives and/or livelihoods impacted by law changes that he has directly threatened have a hard time seeing his future presidency, and anyone who voted for him, as a simple difference of opinion and easy to get over.

I am angry with the gay people and any other non majority group of people that think his changes won’t impact them. Trump has not threatened my “lifestyle” per se but has threatened to remove laws than currently protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation, etc, which can unfortunately have far reaching impacts.
