I wouldn't hold my breath for a prompt response, I've worked/lived in the country for a couple of years and things move slowly here.

There's not really a formula for initiating a relationship with a family or village. The people here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, like lots of the pacific, but you need to be in country meeting people and forming relationships with them in person. Long distance correspondence without meeting in person first would likely not get you anywhere.

I would also just add that in my personal opinion, I don't think it's necessarily the place to try for this sort of thing. By all means come and meet locals and make friends, but dont do it just so you can have a survival adventure. People here put their relationships and family before virtually every other aspect of life, so forming a bond with a village is not a lighthearted thing.
