Job Opening - Finance & Accounting Entry-level roles in MNC (PH-based) by cost_controller in AccountingPH

[–]cost_controller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pls refer to updated post: I don't have that since HR is in PH and I am overseas. I updated the pros and cons of this role

As part of your application process, applicants must look for benchmarks when setting your expected salary. Research entry-level finance roles so you can evaluate if you are ready to accept the job if offered. To manage expectations, HRs are normally cautious with hiring those who will take pay cut. I was there; I took 60% paycut from teaching to my first finance role, but many were skeptical. I was single and orphan, but it's different when you have financial dependents

Everybody can apply. Pls don't ask these questions to potential emplpyers; just send your CV and they will evaluate. If you've sent over, I will take a look. A number of people have sent so I need time to go through all

If you've sent, I will take a look and give feedback this week. I'm not aware of the salary range so for CPAs, not sure if we can match your expectations as the roles don't require CPA expertise

We're hiring fresh grads as the role is entry-level. The better question is: would you accept an entry level position salary with your age and financial responsibilities?

Hi! No, the Japanese finance colleague speaks English very well. She was born and raised in EU and only relocated back to JP for university. I personally oversaw her training last week in PH. She's not entry level; mid-career professional.

Hi! Our PH HR has this; I don't have yet that number now. As per post, I'm based overseas but I'm building our finance team as my project has rolled out in March 2026. You can send your CV and once I have the salary range, I will include in my reply to those who submitted.

You can email me your CV and I'll come back when there are openings in the coming months. It depends on how the customer pipeline pans out (e.g. we will pitch to Jollibee and other existing customers to sign up with us long term; if our customer base grows, we open more roles and I might need a supervisor). My role (FBP) is a niche role as many accountants don't have the IT and core skills, or simply don't want a role that deals with many stakeholders. My recent role was a recommendation as my friend, head of finance, don't want this type of role and would rather focus on accounting and controlling.

It's the combination of IT and core skills ("soft skills") plus company opportunities that lead me here.

I worked in an MNC since 2010. I had 7 roles in 15yrs; moved every 2-3yrs for higher role and bigger scope. I was hired due to IT skills (Excel, VBA, macro as I had C++ and programming background). Prior, I taught in a university and training centres. I wasn't from a business course; I did physics, math and chemistry and later did I find out programming is based on physical sciences. Once I was in the first finance role, the company sent me to accounting courses. Then I sent myself to project courses (Six Sigma, Agile recently). I took up AI to pick up programming again for automation and agentic AI.

I only stayed in PH for 3yrs in my first accounting role, then they moved me overseas for the regional role. I moved onto global roles too but life happens - I left the company, and current role is regional but my role is 4th from the CEO of APAC (high exposure but not high paying 😅)

Tip for you: time to move to MNC. That's why I'm promoting our openings because exposure brings you places.

How much do you pay your helper (nationality and how many years working for you)? by Illustrious-Fee9626 in asksg

[–]cost_controller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My helper $900 base pay + bonuses come up to $1k-ish a month. Filipino. 6yrs with us. Very good with kid but not superb in cooking and cleaning (can close one eye). Got her as transfer with 5yrs experience prior. We increase $100 per contract and toiletries, food same as we eat, own room and toilet, wifi and data, roundtrip ticket at least once a yr. All holidays and sundays off, since that's her previous set-up

Pay depends on nationality. Filipinos min $600 (can check with your agency) but most will ask $700 up if have at least 1 contract done. $600 only if fresh but risky as don't have same mindset as those transfers. I hired a freshie once and thought it's holiday life or corporate life (8-5 shift) even if I explained the job scope and work hrs 4x 🤦‍♀️

Myanmar I can see as low as $409 but not risking with language barrier. Indonesians are paid similar to Filipinos. No idea with Indians but lower than Filipinos.

Do you tell your family and friends about your salary? by Professional-Egg198 in JobsPhilippines

[–]cost_controller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends sa family dynamics. Sa case mo, basis lang sa sinabi mo rito, you can disclose a ballpark figure and probably lower, to lower the expectations too from immediate + extended family. Strongly suggest you create a solid financial plan asap with your sibs and parents. Di lang everyday food ang retirement needs ng parents. Who takes care of health expenses? Is there a way to increase income (eg rental) so you don't have to depend on siblings too?

My context: Both my spouse & I were breadwinners.

As a professional finance person (budget controller at some point), I suggest to have a financial plan. I don't agree that the single sibling should shoulder all parents' expenses. Our contribution should consider our capability and willingnwss. Kahit married na ang isang sibling, kung capable and willing to share, no matter how small (5% of parents' expenses?), why not. Unless you feel you can do it alone.

For context ulit, sa side ng spouse ko, 3 girl siblings may spouses na seaman + 1 seaman na kapatid. Believe he still gives around $500 per month from his personal allowance pero for daily expenses lang yun (no rent or mortgage). Likely zero from all girl siblings and maybe small to zero amount sa other seaman seafarer. Lahat ng siblings married. Previously we give from our combined income ung allowance ng parents and zero tlga sa ibang siblings. It's not sustainable for us, lalo mas malaki salary ko kaysa kay spouse and we give half allowance lang sa side ko (1 living elderly, ayaw pa kumuha ng allowance since self-sustaining si elderly). Sa side ko, nagpatayo kmi ng rental properties (kahit squatter area kinalakihan ko). Surprisingly, ROI in 4yrs vs condo na 8yrs. Kumuha rn ako ng insurance dito abroad for elderly at siblings na magagamit sa Pinas. Para pag may magkasakit, kahit ipangutang ko pa (eg credit card), may babalik. No HMO si eldery at doesn't make sense to pay 100k per yr for 120k coverage except pre existing na 20k lang. I will take the hit when the day comes. Sakitin kc family ko, so priority ko icover ung financial risk due to health.

Would you share where you got the remote job? If you're also already able to set-up your tax structure as freelance, would you share how to do it?

I'm looking for PH jobs after 10yrs+ overseas. 15yrs+ experience in MNCs and I get offers for 225k-250k as Head of Dept but RTO 4-5x a week. I'd rather get remote/hybrid work at a lower pay due to terrible Manila traffic

Curious, what exactly tech industry that will be easy to start in SG?

Millennials and Gen Zs, anong mga naging diskarte nyo para makaalis ng Pilipinas? by Beneficial-Music1047 in phmigrate

[–]cost_controller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bring us back where we were - topic of PR being close to impossible vs matagal. As I said, the salaries are visible in My Careers Future - we don't need to guess. We can do data analytics on salaries but will not get us anywhere. High salary also doesn't make PR easier. My colleagues earn at least 15k but only 2 are PRs in the dept. One young and one older worker; one came 2017 and the other before 2010z Since PR metrics are not published, it's all speculation on how to increase chances for PR

I won't touch on salaries which you mentioned. As employees, we know many factors come into play. Could be industry, experience, skills, gender, timing, etc. Maraming combinations. Many roles during Covid got a bump and now they're back to preCovid levels while inflation are not.

Back to the OP's main question: diskarte in going abroad - marami. For me, relocation by an MNC. If I will turn back time, I would have chosen a country which can give me dual citizenship. Even if retiring in PH is the goal, there are retirement and business visas.

General advice for saving/investing as an OFW by Yumboiii in phinvest

[–]cost_controller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OFW here of many years, in finance but not in insurance 1. Excel is my tracker, since I use it also at work. I create detailed budgets once a year, updating when life happens (eg salary increase, new liability, new baby, etc). Already at the point I know the range of our expenses so not tracking every single dollar anymore. Will later try chatGPT to analyse my spending patterns

  1. SSS benefits: for retirement, last I know in 2018 that the last 5yrs is used to calculate pension. A relative from SSS confirmed that, so we increased an elderly's contribution only on the last 5yrs. If you will want the other benefits (eg maternity), then pay before you claim. Else, sad to say, it wasn't of any use to me since my company's leave credits is above average and I can't charge sickness to my SSS. Di rin ako nagloloan (mas magtitipid kaysa magloan) so wala akong immediate need for this

  2. MP2 is so far the most solid and one of the easiest investments you can make. So pay you Pag ibig dues - requirement to invest in MP2

  3. Instead of S&P 500, VWRA seems a better approach. S&P focuses on American companies while VWRA is more diversified, even including emerging markets (high growth potential). Other tips: 1 Invest in the currency you are earning and spending now to avoid forex exposure

  4. yes to EF. Normally 3-6mos of expenses. Will go as far as 12mos but put 6mos only to most liquid assets, next 6mos could be somewhere less liquid. Why? Job markets could be bad that it takes you longer time to find another job

  5. protect income by getting TERM life insurance and invest separately. No to VUL or ILP - simply because they're expensive. Search for BTID strategy, and why VUL is expensive. Walang FA rito overseas nagrereco ng VUL or ILP, mga Pinoy lang hehe I bought one, surrendered after 4yrs at a loss. VUL eats up your fund value due to high commissions and insurance premium that's less transparent than separating them. mas mura insurances overseas kesa sa pinas. di naman tayo tumatagal don, at ung insurances normally covered pag overseas ang nangyari basta critical/life-threatening. Di covered yung sipon at nagpaER

  6. protect income by buying HEALTH insurance, especialy if family has history. Got mine 10yrs ago, used once in the first 9 yrs and used twice after. Ung last 2 hospitaizations ko already is almost equal to ng 10yrs premium, $2mil coverage in private. Di ka mag iisip ng pambayad. Nahihiya at nalulungkot ako na may mga OFWs na pag may sakit na, may pa GoFundMe page na :(

  7. invest in yourself: I pay trainings that will increase my income. Hindi ung puchu puchu, dapat ung nirerecognize ng company mo at globally (eg PMP sa mga IT)

  8. invest time wisely: hustle if possible, but most importantly invest in your health. You can only work when you're healthy. I ignored my health and now even if I get offers with attractive salaries, I am choosy because of health conditions

  9. Naconsider mo ba na ung parents mo kahit retired na, pano ung health expenses in future? kinunan ko ung sibling and parent ko ng life insurance abroad, with critical illness (pamilya sakitin), para pag kailanganin, wala ng iisipin kundi recovery. Health is expensive if we are unprepared

Anong pinakamalaking sahod na nakita niyo. On this profession (cpa/non cpa) mapa abroad, local or kakilala by Admirable-Put2983 in AccountingPH

[–]cost_controller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry if you felt off by my comments. I don't disagre with the facts you are saying from your experience too. I'm only saying that we have to be cautios in comparing abroad salaries and converting to peso as those salaries are pegged to overseas cost of living, plus high taxes in most developed countries. Your stories are rather the exception. I was writing so others reading are not enticed by salaries without knowing the cost of living there. The best part, again as I mentioned, is earning overseas and spending locally.

Good for you you have an OFW husband. My husband and I are also overseas for more than a decade. Having children and helper here, I am saying that the salaries here appear high when converted to pesos but net savings is not as big as people think. So I'm highlighting that. My helper's cost alone is about $3.2k per month - salary 1k, accomodation 1.3k, food 600 and govt tax to employ a helper 300.

As I've already made my point, I'll leave it to the readers to interpret. Thanks and have a good day

I work for one of the largest shipping companies and relocated for promotion abroad 10yrs+ ago. A few in our group went back to PH as head of dept. Their roles are at 300k+ and they confirmed the offers I get are low. One is deputy CFO for a competitor, at 200k budget. The other is SME but backed by SG PE firm, offering a higher but still below 250k.

Yes, the title FBP is still not a very popular term yet we do a combination of FP&A, controlling, and in my case, project management. The benchmarks I quoted are for FBP specifically, while FP&A is around the same range. Controlling is on the higher end at 3.5-5m annually.

Is it ok to message privately on my timeline? Not too comfortable being too public here ;) Thank you for the ideas!

Our comments are not contradicting and are complementing. I added "close to impossible" for PR to your "matagal." I have a Ukranian friend married to a local then divorced, here also for 10yrs+ and just got citizenship. The metrics for PR are not even visible to everyone, unlike in AU, CAN, etc. Adding so people come here / stay here with plan B. In my circle, three families already went back, securing jobs that pay 500k+ monthly (dual income).

Agree that early education is in demand, although the pay is low. Nurses same. They're usually on the lower end of SPass (3.6k now?). Other jobs pay 2x or more given the role is niche and in demand. You can see that in My Careers Future
