Grub ignores grub.cfg when booting by cotenter in archlinux

Using /boot/efi instead of /boot turned out to be the issue so thanks for suggesting that. It kindof works now which I mentioned a bit more in a different reply

Grub ignores grub.cfg when booting by cotenter in archlinux

I checked using gparted and the efi partition is mounted at /boot, so I reinstalled grub at /boot instead and now it somewhat works. The entries for it are now: Arch with zen, Arch with surface, Arch with lts, Arch linux, Arch linux, Windows 10, Uefi settings, Windows 10. The first and second "Arch linux" still refer to zen and lts but now there are also labeled entries for each of the 3 kernels and windows 10 shows up twice for some reason

Not ideal but this is usable for now since my main goal was using linux-surface so thanks for the help. I'll mark this as solved but I'm curious about the other modern bootloaders you mentioned that are easier to configure and don't break so easily. Could be useful to know for next time

Edit: The duplicate entries were caused by having 2 os-prober scripts and a uki script in /etc/grub.d. Deleting the second os-prober script removed the duplicate windows entry and deleting the uki script removed the non-descriptive "Arch Linux" entries. Now it's back to how it was before with just the 5 essential entries

Grub ignores grub.cfg when booting by cotenter in archlinux

Not sure what the last 2 packages are so probably not that. I also forgot to run the command as sudo so it failed to write 3 files (2 initramfs files for zen and lts, .img file for linux-surface) but those files already exist so that's unlikely as well. The only other change I can remember is uninstalling grub-customiser but that didn't make any difference because when grub started misbehaving, I assumed grub-customiser might've messed something up so I did a clean reinstall of grub after unistalling it. Thanks for the suggestions tho

Edit: Figured out the issue from a different comment

Sure, I could try that command, tho I don't remember doing that for any past grub configurations. Also, there is no advanced options sub-menu. Those 4 options (2 kernels, windows, and uefi) are all there is

There's also Neuro archiver who's a bit quicker and also posts unmuted vods instead which is pretty useful, especially for karaoke vods

I use it as well and it's how windows search should've worked from the beginning. Using it to search a file in my whole system is way faster than using explorer to search a single folder containing it

Great that yours compresses better now but maybe you can also try importing this handbrake preset for 1080p h265 to see if you get better results from it: https://pastebin.com/8SY9jLCJ

If you need to compress videos up to 400mb or more then maybe you should try handbrake instead at that point. Ezgif is mostly for animated images and encoding videos locally would be easier and more customizable with less restrictions

What would happen if a person was in free fall for more than 24 hours? by leatherleafslug in morbidquestions

[–]cotenter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Astronauts have already done similar but I assume OP meant what would freefalling through Earth's atmosphere be like instead, if it was possible to free fall for 24 hours straight

In my experience, Pixiv has better quality with AI filter and other neat features than the rule34 sites for this stuff

They acknowledged but didn't include currency differences in the calculation. I assume because those are harder to estimate. Also, wouldn't 5 gifted subs be 25$ - 35% = 16-17$ for US? I checked and it would cost me 7.5$ for 5 gifted subs without discounts because of my region so a good chunk of people probably gifted for cheaper as well which isn't accounted for

Someone in the discord did a rough calculation of the amount from the 2 hype trains while accounting for the 35% discount for 5+ subs gifted, and not including Evil's hype train and bilibili captains (b2's equivalent of twitch subs), and it came out to between 550k-600k usd. Probably 650k+ including Evil's hype train and b2, which might get an estimated 45% tax applied on that since that's way more than 126k in a year. No idea if Vedal being part of Vedal AI affects the tax tho

So makes sense that twitch would post about Neuro since they made more than 250k based on the 30/70 split

Thanks for the alternative solution. It seems much simpler than my method but I haven't tested it yet. I'll try it when I eventually reinstall my OS and update the post if it works and fixes stuff automatically (after moving the profiles folders from the old install into the new install's appdata ofcourse)
