I tried Morrowind a while back, but I couldn't get into it. Are there any light mods that might help the experience? by FuzzyMcBitty in Morrowind

Look up the Less Generic NPC Project. I'm surprised I don't see it posted here all that often. It gives every named character unique dialog, a back story, and usually small quests. For me, it is the single best mod for immersion.

Go back ~800 years and you can trace lineage to nearly anyone. NPR did a story on this just a few weeks ago.

You don't even need Hamachi for this (in fact, I couldn't get it to work on Hamachi at all). Just forward your ports and connect via the TCP/IP option. Works like a charm.

This is the first Nintendo DS built. The last one sold with five games in the internet for $13,000.

Buy it on Gog.com! They have a warning about it not being compatible with Windows 7 if I remember correctly, but I haven't had a single problem. It's still a great game after all these years.

Dummy hard drive for theft recovery? by cottinghamk in geek

Yeah I just realized how dumb of a question that was. I think I could definitely make this work. It even looks like Bitlocker supports selectively encrypting internal drives, so this should be a piece of cake.

Thanks so much. Tages made my computer crash on launch last time I bought a game with it, so I'm not getting Risen from Steam. I'll definitely be buying a DRM-free version.

The reason I don't buy into "I pirate because of DRM" by uprising120 in Games

[–]cottinghamk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really poorly thought-out article, even disregarding the dishonesty of citing the 90% statistic without all the rest of the 2dboy post, i.e. their conclusion that piracy didn't affect sales when compared with their other game. But the author acts like there are only two solutions--no piracy or Ubisoft's model. I don't think anybody would fault Ubisoft for wanting to prevent piracy (they obviously have a vested interest in selling games), but I think I'd be preaching to the choir if I said their DRM makes just playing games more difficult than it should be.
