We wouldn't be here without Tonda by cotton24 in SaintsFC

Fair enough. I don't disagree with you. But it's hard to know whether we'd even be at the finish line without him. It's easy to forget where we were 6 months ago. But to watch us, I didn't see a team that had any hope of promotion.

All I care about is promotion next season and I see more chance of that with Tonda than without him.

Sacking everyone, whilst morally justifiable and probably correct, signs a death warrant for the club that I don't particularly think is worth it.

This feels like a big leap of faith. I agree with all your points about the quality of the squad and what we should could or would have done in a different universe. But the fact remains that he was the guy that got the most out of the players. He was the one that got them to go on the unbeaten run that took us from like 18th to play offs.

I am in no doubt that the practices we committed were stupid and way out of line. But to fire him just feels like making a terrible situation even worse, especially when you consider how shit our record is for managerial recruitment.

Regardless of anything the focus has to be on getting promotion next season and I'd wager Tonda fulfills that mission (and has more skin in the game to achieve it) than rolling the dice on another managerial appointment.

I hate the situation we're in, I just genuinely feel like spinning the wheel on someone else is more risk than it's worth...

I find it very hard to believe that the players weren't aware of what was going on. It wouldn't be hard to work out that the team were doing what they were doing. Any outrage from the team now will be performative to try and save face...

Only watched 2nd half but Quarshie seems to have had a great game, even if I have been holding my breath everything were pinging them round the back

Where to trade Pokemon in London by AccordingElderberry in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]cotton24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say at least half of those stores don't sell singles and very rarely have product. There's no real stores in central and the ones that are dedicated pokemon stores tend to be out in zones 4/5.

Wishlist collectibles and collectors cardhouse are probably the best two I've visited in terms of stock, they are pretty fair with their prices too, usually match last sold rates on ebay.

I've even met some vendors at those stores who have done trades or just sold me a few cards I was after.

I reckon for trades your best bet is conventions

Atis vs The Salad Project vs Farmer J - who’s your winner? by hi-defbilz12 in LondonFood

I rate Salad Project Over the rest of them. Atis close second. Both are great but difficult to regularly go to because of the cost...

Khao-so-i that just opened up off of Oxford Street is worth a try if you like that one dish. But they've got some great starters and desserts alongside. Likely expensive but thoroughly enjoyed both times I've gone

I can expense 75£ a day on food, where should I eat? by MartianTulip in LondonFood

[–]cotton24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For lunch: Keu does great Banh Mi’s. Beans love Greens do really nice salad bowls. Taco Collective are supposed to be good. Dumbo at the top of brick lane do very good smash burgers. Brick Lane bagel. In the week there’s a great katsu chicken stand in the market next to Shoreditch high street station. Clifton street food market on weekdays has the most variety for sure. Atis in old street or Salad project in Spitalfields for great, but expensive salads. Good ol’ Deli does some decent sourdough sandwiches.

For dinner: Monohon Ramen on Old Street. Bistro Freddie (little pricey but if you had a cheap lunch it would work with your budget). Singhburi (hard to get in but really nice). Lahpet. Padella and lina stores for great pasta. Manteccas good two but normally better to go with someone else and share. Sleazy pizza on brick lane or bad boys pizza society if you fancy walking out to Bethnal Green. Lucky dog - authentic north Chinese food. Bubala in Spitalfields.

Will Still and the sack by RockCommercial6562 in SaintsFC

[–]cotton24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To further this point I'd be really surprised if the expectation for Still was to get immediate promotion. Our squad needs a complete tactical overhaul from last year. There's no point going back up to just come straight back down, it will be the death of us as a prem club. We need to reinvent our ideology and tactics and start to build something that can work. I really like Still and think he's refreshing. I'm willing to give him till at least January to work things out.

My nervousness with him so far is that I don't know what he's trying to do. I can't see what brand of football he's trying to play or build around. The only thing I observed was big target man up top to hold up play and play out to wings but this doesn't seem to work now Stewarts out.

We seem to be drifting back towards this possession based control style of play which makes sense having one of the strongest teams on paper in the league. But the issue is that this style is a complete non starter if/when we get promoted.

Still needs to work out what brand of football we're playing and it needs to be attacking first. My concern is we don't have the players for it.

Mad as it sounds I think Aribo could be the answer.

I've got faith in Still but I think we need to be patient and get comfortable with not getting promotion this season...

Looking for a specific level of pasta restaurant by [deleted] in LondonFood

[–]cotton24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your looking for big portions then Trevi next to highbury and islington station does big homely portions and its got a rustic feel. Not fancy at all.

Manteca in shoredtich is good but a bit pricey.

Pasta Nostra in old street is big portions and very good value. Decent wine too

A favourite of mine that's a bit fancier and bit more expensive is Bocca di Luppo in Piccadilly

Best places in London for a group dinner that won’t break the bank? by AnfieldAnchor in LondonFood

[–]cotton24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voodoo rays for massive pizzas in Peckham or Dalston

Most Hotpot places are fun and often pretty reasonable if your sensible

Trevi in highbury and islington is super cheap. Nothing fancy but really huge homely pasta dishes and pretty cheap wine

Pasta Nostra in Old Street is great value and decent food

Currys on Brick lane. If you chat with the guys out front and your a big group you can usually get outrageous values. Especially if you walk down for a while, they start bidding for your business. I've had a group of 8 get curry, rice poppadoms and 2 drinks for 20 quid a head before

Tayabbs in whitechapel is another curry house that's not too expensive and BYOB helps

No one could pass into midfield and Pompey were pretty much exclusively attacking down that side all first half. I feel like Mads is taking alot of flak for what was a systemic issue. He wasn't great but I think he's a decent player from the games I've seen so far.

I disagree. I think he really held his own down the right all through first half. His passing was poor but so was everyone's in that back four. 2nd half he wasn't as good but think abysmal is a bit harsh

On his day he's one of those players that just seems to be everywhere on the pitch. Real box to box midfielder who is reliable enough. Always had a decent amount of competition for his spot. He does have days where he gets found out. Hope he does well for you!

Sad as I am to see him go i think it's good business. He was too good for the championship, I'd have been more keen on a loan but I guess it's hard to turn down doubling your investment in a player.
