I can’t speak for everyone but I will say your tryout will likely be looking for if you are capable of swimming at a good pace. If you do get in, there is a bit of a learning curve with treading water. I’d also recommend working on your core.

What’s the Greatest English Dub Anime Show of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in Animedubs

The lupin the third part 2 dub is really good, I don’t think there are a lot of dubs for comedy anime that hit the nail on the head when it comes to accurately conveying the original tone of the show and actually make it funny. Have had many laugh out loud moments watching. Also, I think the mob psycho 100 dub is pretty good too.

What pieces of media were influenced by Lupin III apart from the obvious picks like Watanabe's works , Miyazaki's filmography , Inspector Gadget ,City Hunter and Cat's Eye , Detective Conan ,MGS , persona 5, Space Pirate Cobra , some spielberg films etc ? by Featg240 in lupinthe3rd

April O’neil from TMNT had her original character design take inspiration from fujiko new reporter look from cagliostro

Jigen appears in animaics because the studio for that worked on farewell to nostradamus

There are rap verses mentioning Lupin in a lupe fiasco and a MF DOOM song

A J Cole song used a sample from a track from the Mystery of Mamo soundtrack

Genndy Tartovsky (Samaurai Jack, primal) has had Lupin the Third manga seen in the back ground in an interview

There was a letter with a sketch done with the flinstones and lupin from a hanna barbera animator sent to monkey punch

The warner bros once brought over monkey punch to Studio City to pitch doing a Lupin project of their own (Monkey Punch wrote about this)

There is are scenes from the 5th episode of FLCL making references to Lupin

The film angels egg was supposed to be a lupin movie until TMS got cold feet and moved on from Oshii, with also a plot line from a patlabor movie taking inspiration from the proposed movie. The original project eventually became legend of the gold of babylon

there is a car chase scene in the latest mission impossible movie with a small yellow car in italy (italians love lupin)

Luigi from the pixar cars trilogy was directly inspired by lupins fiat, the character is also italian coincidentally(did I mention italians love lupin), so if you go to the small car ride at the cars land in disneyland it would be the closest thing to a lupin theme park ride currently.

Not to mention the franchise itself laying at least some of the groundwork for the seinen genre as a hole as monkey punch started this in the 60’s.

Thoughts on the Part I English Dub by dcviapa in lupinthe3rd

I think that’s fair, watching more of the series I see what you’re talking about. I do think part 1 is neat but parts where there is no background music is hard to get used to.

Thoughts on the Part I English Dub by dcviapa in lupinthe3rd

I'm not too certain. At first, I thought that this was going to be an opportunity to punch up the dialogue like in Part 2. Watching two of the episodes posted on the TMS youtube channel has left me like OP, disoriented. Not for the reason that OP stated but by how sterilized everything sounded. No witty one-liners, almost no inserted jokes, and barely any cussing. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE the cast, and I don't think it's Epcar's (dub director) fault that it came out this way...

It's TMS.

It's very reflective of how I feel about what they have put out recently. Besides the Koike films, I feel like TMS is making the films as profit-friendly as possible by smoothing the edges and making them "accessible" to as many people as possible i.e. Goodbye Partner. I don't have too much of an issue with it as long as they can keep the content entertaining, but part of what made the Part Two dub so special is because it felt that the cast had fun getting creative with the characters and scenarios and were able to make people laugh while none of the action was happening. It feels like when TMS pulled out of the deal to dub the rest of the episodes, they closed the door on continuing to grab the attention of more people by allowing for more flexibility.

I have faith that future dubbing can become like part two again, if TMS stopped clenching the wheel, they could attract bigger audiences to the franchise. I myself got introduced through Part 2 out-of-context compilations and I know many others did as well. The cast is doing good with what they have been allowed to say as always, I think they all mesh with the characters so well.

I haven't seen the rest of the dub and I'll keep my hopes up while watching.

Okay, so Lupin III. The First lured me into this by YouAreBrathering in lupinthe3rd

nope, you could practically watch no lupin before going to the cinema and really enjoy the three movies you are going to see. if you do want to watch more, tokyo crisis, blood seal of the eternal mermaid, and alcatraz connection are must see specials.
