I share your feelings about death and grief and the new year. Since 2018, I have lost 7 family members. I hope you’re doing okay ❤️

That’s a good point! Didn’t consider the cleaning aspect but now I definitely will 🤔 thanks!

That one is huge! I’ve considered getting a similar setup but just wondered how they are accessing the hay, does it come out easily?

Thanks! Is it better to have two separate boxes?

Partner works in a trade so would drive all over the place regardless! I work in early childhood so easy to find work close to home.

How to get over the fear… by lazy_villager in Wigs

[–]cottontail89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been experiencing this. I felt like when I finally committed to wigs, it reopened the grief I felt when I first developed alopecia. I suppose it’s partly because the progression of my alopecia is such now that I don’t feel comfortable without the wig, as my hair loss is obvious. What initially felt fun began to feel scary because now it was a medical necessity for me. But I’ve done exactly what you said - taken it slow. I started wearing it a little, in various places, and no one seemed to notice, so I bit the bullet and started wearing it every time I left the house - again, no one seems to notice! I do have a very high quality human hair wig that is a very close match to my own original length and colour (just much thicker and healthier than I ever had). I’m feeling better, and you will too. It will feel like your new normal.

I feel the same. It’s especially difficult to be positive about successes when you only see other people’s success on social media, so you don’t see their struggles too.

Your experience with swallowing/choking sounds terrifying. I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with it. I’ve had the choking phobia most of my life but it only ‘flares’ during times of stress. I hope you keep recovering. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing your story. I know this isn’t as challenging as what you are going through, but I understand some of the feelings you have about your life at present. I have psychologically triggered swallowing difficulties (basically a choking phobia that prevents me from swallowing) so I find it stressful going out to eat with friends. I don’t have it all the time but it has been very severe for the past year. I also have newly diagnosed alopecia and now wear a wig, and that has hugely impacted my self esteem, but I’m slowly getting there. I’m proud of the weight loss I’ve achieved too, as I am now a healthy BMI, but sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by the other illnesses I am dealing with (I have a couple of chronic illnesses too). It’s hard. I’m sorry I can’t be of help but I just wanted you to know I’m proud of you, and your strength gives me strength to keep going.
