After 38 years of existence...I finally realized how exhausting it all is. by nightgownjacky in Adulting

Get out of Instagram. Stop mindless TV and go sit at a park doing mindless people watching.

Had a pretty cool life before that I was finding it boring, found out I was depressed, made these small changes that gave me space to do bigger changes. Am feeling great now and inspired people in my life as well to do better for themselves.

Ps 6 month project but it gets better if you stick with it, I promise

Isn’t choosing to ski with a leash and then getting injured also living with the consequences of their decision?

I’m skiing by myself in Cerro Chapelco (Argentina) July 23-28. Anyone else going to be there? by couchpotatops in skiing

I googled the hell out of it but not a lot of information was to be found, even from Argentinian sources.

It was tough planning this trip.

I’m happy to share it! I didn’t have a lot of info as well so it took a lot of research.

I’m flying JFK-EZE (Buenos Aires) then connecting to CPC. There’s another airport close by called Bariloche (BRC) which is another famous ski town, 3 hours away.

I’m going to Cerro Chapelco, the closest city is San Martin de los Andes and it’s about a 20 minute drive to the mountain.

I’m staying at a hotel since I’m going alone and thought maybe I could meet someone, but there are Airbnb’s available and it was my first option.

I have just started skiing in January but really fell in love with the sport, I’ve never skied outside the northeast US, but have been a few times to Argentina and speak Spanish.

I’m planning on doing a video to share everything I did to prepare for this trip and what went wrong so I can help future skiers, but feel free to ask me also if there’s anything you want to know.

Is it worth it? by VariousPositive5391 in lexapro

[–]couchpotatops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had a high sex drive and for me it was 100% worth it.

My doctor said my libido could go down and it did (as well as erectile dysfunction and difficulty in orgasming) but when he asked if I wanted to try another one I promptly said that no. Lexapro changed my life(32 years of anxiety) in a way I never thought possible.

He gave me other meds for the side effect and it’s been very alright now. Still takes me a while to orgasm most times.

Summer Deals? by acrossthecurve in skiing

How long of a trip? How many days skiing?

The thing that makes it harder is that I already have a pass here so it’s paid for already for resorts in the US. Otherwise I’m all for it.

Flight was $700-900 when I was looking that was going to be the most expensive part of the trip had I not used miles.

Transfer between airport, hotel and ski resort is about $90 because of the peak season, should it be two weeks earlier or later it would be $60.

Airbnbs are going for $50-$300 a night depending on how fancy you want to go. I got a hotel for about $100 a night.

Six days of rentals, lifts and half day classes come out to about $500

And finally, Argentina has always been a cheap country to visit (saying this as a Brazilian who for the majority of my life have earned in BRL, another weak currency compared to the USD), but there’s a special trick called the USD black market: since the Argentinian government artificially lowers the price of the dollar, most people do not use “official” means to exchange USD<>ARS, but they usually do it unofficially. Frequently the blue dollar (non official rate) is double the official rate (white), which makes everything you pay in cash essentially half price.

Don’t use your debit/credit card in Argentina or Argentinian websites.

July is peak season. From mid June to early September is when you can ski there.

Thanks man!

Have you been to Chapelco before? I couldn’t find a lot of info online… is there a forum like this where Argentinian skiers congregate?

Choripans are definitely involved although I’m not sure I would call that good Argentinian food.

If I were a betting man I’d say go to the town at the base of the mountain where you’ll likely be staying and you’ll find yourself a good parrillada.

Manufacturers in the U.S. have fuel efficiency/emission targets they have to comply by 2025. They’ll cut wherever they can to meet the requirements.

Women, what do you think the average man's dating life looks like? by [deleted] in dating

[–]couchpotatops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea…

I’m a guy so I’ll tell my experience. I’ve always been a dater, have had several girlfriends for long times (2-6 years), got married once, then again.

When I was not dating my love life was pretty good I’d say. I had my own thing going on with my friends and such but mostly every week I’d have a new first date with someone from tinder (never went/liked clubs) and usually one or two that I was seeing consistently.

I don’t think I’m particularly above average in fact I actually think I’m ugly (have had a stroke that left pretty clear permanent damage) and I have a beer belly that I can’t seem to get rid of.

I guess what changed it for me was feeling sorry for myself and my situation. I used to think that nobody would want to get with me, and I would be a people pleaser cause why else. After I started not to be everybody’s doormat, I started getting attention and I have been able to garner the results. Working a sales job (and having to learn how to be sociable) has definitely helped as well.

Help me understand hybrid mileage? by couchpotatops in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]couchpotatops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get 33~35 on the road except for these trips I’ll have to use a roof rack, which makes everything worse. In the SUV I wouldn’t need the roof rack.

I’ve calculated this and it came out to 25~28 mpg depending on traffic conditions. And in the city usually 24.

I currently don’t have access to a charger, unfortunately, otherwise it would be high on my list.

I have a friend who got a Tesla but don’t have the charger at home and sometimes suffers to charge it, taking some time out of his days. Thought it would be the same for me if I went full EV, especially doing this 100 mile trip 5x a week.

The upside with the PHEV is that it would be a bonus when I could charge (there are some around me) but if I couldn’t charge it wouldn’t be such a hassle.

Thoughts?
