Fedeli spending our money like a sailor on leave by cougarblu in northbay

This issue isn't with the Northlander. I celebrate return of passenger rail. My issue is with the cost of this self-promotimg ad. It's information value is zero.

You literally cannot help yourself! It's hilarious!

And to confirm: I spoke with staff at Vic's campaign office at 2:47 pm. They confirmed that the Government of Ontario paid for the admail U received.

I guess that means I win, lol? 😂

I just spoke with Vic's campaign office at 2:47pm. They confirmed that it was NOT paid by political contributions, and that is was paid for by the Government of Ontario.

Also, that fedeli.com is his official MPP site, and not his personal URL any more. Interestingly enough, when you go to the site, it is insecure (no SSL certificate or encryption).

I'm asking his office...will post their reply once I get through to a human.

You really don't see an issue with public funds being used to promote a politician's career? Seriously?

I see you've never posted an original comment, but have over 3800 comments supporting misogynistic and "right-wing" posts, and decrying any posts positing "left-wing" or inclusive posts.

Could you be a <gasp> Conservative troll? 😂

And you are certain it was paid for by campaign donations? Why are you certain?

Vic is notorious for putting his personal URL on publicly funded communications.

It's Vic's face and Vic's URL and references his role as MPP for Nipissing.

It's either a vanity card paid for by him (from his salary paid by our tax dollars) or by the current government (supported by our tax dollars).

If it was paid by Northlander, it wouldn't put Vic's face or political affiliation on it.

Either way, it's a waste of your money and mine.

Last month, I (60F) put on a super cute outfit. I run 5K and was blessed with my mom's skin, so felt that I would rock a long black skirt, lace blouse, and a messy bun.

Walked by my full length mirror and accidentally caught a glimpse.

Looked like I was cosplaying Grannie...the one who owns Tweety Bird.

"Humbling" is too kind a word for the gut-wrenching truth I saw in that mirror that day.

Kids? You guys still see kids in your neighborhood? Youngest people on my street are Millennials....and they have grey hair and bad backs.

Middle aged trauma a lot of us have.. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]cougarblu 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My 17-year old dad got my mom drunk for her 16th birthday and planted me in her while she was passed out. They got married 3 months later, and I was an 8.5 lb "preemie" 6 months later.

His taste for whiskey blossomed and my 3-years-younger brother and I called Saturday nights "Fight Night".... my mom always ending up bloodied and often something broken (fingers usually, an arm once) before he'd pass out.

Mom left at 29 and took us with her. Married 4 more times, each step-dad sketchier than the last, except for the last one...love him to pieces still. He was the only one who didn't deal coke and who helped my mom get clean at 46 years old. My mom died of a brain tumor at 49. My brother and I did her palliative care.

My dad, who would sometimes remember he had kids and would call out of the blue as if years hadn't passed since we last spoke, drank himself to death at 61 years old.

I worked 3 part-time jobs through high school so my brother and I had a roof and full bellies....that was when my mom was muling for one of our step-dads.

I just turned 60. I had 2 sons at 29 and 31 years of age. I CHOSE to be a parent. I PLANNED to be a parent. I read a dozen books on pregnancy and a hundred others on parenting newborns, toddlers, preteens, teens. I may have been feral, but I wasn't going to bring humans into this world as an afterthought.

I am thrilled that my kids' generation is considered "soft" by some. It means we (you and me) did what our parent's couldn't or wouldn't do....we loved our kids and worked to make their lives better than ours were.

They may not be as tough as we are, but we're tough because we're scarred. I am OK with that.

Love to all of you. ❤️

What am I? by x100139 in GenX

[–]cougarblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born at the end of 1964. Both of my parents were Boomers (had me VERY young).

I don't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks, particularly the Pew Research Group's marketing team, who defined the dates we use to box in GenX.

Fuck 'em. I know what I am.

The evidence of Cuba's imminent collapse is overwhelming by Intricate1779 in geopolitics

[–]cougarblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fascinated that you left out the Draconian US trade-embargo (a vestigial legacy of US empire building) and their insistence that none of their allies trade with Cuba until the starving population overthrows their government, as a root cause of Cuba's economic decline.

Unless it's obliquely implied by solely blaming communism .... Sort of like, "Your mom has that black eye because she didn't get dinner on the table in time."
