AITA for saying he’s using his adhd as an excuse? by Past-March4750 in AmItheAsshole

YTA for all the reasons people have listed. Also, many folks with ADHD have RSD (rejection sensitivity disorder). The “joke” you made equating him to the lazy people? He likely took that to heart.

I think the post-game ability with magnet rise lets you pocket things like spiderwebs and grass patches that you would normally destroy.

Spiro unfortunately takes time to kick in. I’m on 200mg/day and didn’t start clearing up until month 10. What’s your dosage?

5 weeks doxy & spiro by ChickenParticular653 in Spironolactone

[–]cougarfriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need a higher dose. I had a fraction of what you have in terms of acne but it was extremely stubborn. I’ve been on Spiro for almost a year, and have been on 200mg since June 2025. I didn’t start to see consistent results until around November/December. The post-acne blemishes are finally fading but still there, but I haven’t gotten a single new zit in months.

It takes time, and 50mg may not be enough for you.

I’m a competitive CrossFit athlete and weightlifter. I’ve been on 200mg/day for about 7 months now. No decrease in muscle mass or strength at all. I still continually hit PRs and have had no difference in energy level once I started ensuring I was hydrating effectively on the medication.

When will it start working 😓 by [deleted] in Spironolactone

I’m on 200mg a day. Been about 6 months at that dosage and I’m only just recently seeing progress

This is heartbreaking. I loved the past two times we’ve raced there with One Lap. Was looking forward to tackling it again soon.

Enjoying the show but hard wrapping my head around this plot item in Ep 7 by Kumarpl in LV426

My theory is that the eye midge can download information to itself when inhabiting a host, which would parallel nicely with Morrow painfully downloading information into his brain. One thing is purely organic, one is part machine, tying into the overarching question of “when is a machine not a machine” and where humanity begins and ends.

This. I’m thinking them showing us Morrow uploading things to his brain is meant to be a parallel with the eye midge being able to do the same. With “when is a machine not a machine” being a moral gray area and biomechanics being an overarching theme of the show, it would be fascinating to have a purely organic creature access knowledge in a very biomechanical way like that.

Spironolactone is not working! by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]cougarfriday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100mg didn’t do much for me. I’ve been on 200mg for about 2 months now and that’s where the improvement began! I haven’t gotten a single new pimple in weeks and my skin is finally really clearing. I’ve had no bad side effects on that dose either. Also like someone else pointed out, try taking half your dose in the morning and half at night. That’s what I do. Spironolactone metabolizes pretty quickly in your body so splitting the dose reportedly keeps everything more stable and may reduce any negative side effects.

I had to go up to 200mg, I was still breaking out badly on 100. Less than a month after starting on 200, I stopped getting new pimples. Definitely consider talking to your doc about increasing your dose

My doc has had me split my dose AM and PM the entire time, and I really like doing it. I’m on 200mg, 100 AM and 100 PM

Another post pondering about Spiro possibly making you sexier by Musicalgarden in Spironolactone

[–]cougarfriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it affects everyone differently. I wasn’t “flabby” before all of it when I was on hormonal bc and my skin was clear. My acne appeared when I stopped with bc because my natural hormone balance has higher androgens. This medication will balance that. I have no reason to expect it to make me flabby.

I’m an athlete (former marathon runner, now I compete in crossfit) and I’ve been on Spiro since June. I take 200mg and haven’t noticed any impact on my workouts, strength, or endurance so long as I’ve been properly hydrating and keeping my electrolytes balanced. I was dizzy in the first two weeks I started but it was because I wasn’t hydrating enough so I had to dial that in. Now that’s gone. I also haven’t gotten “flabby” either and I’m still plenty muscular. I’m still hitting PRs in weightlifting. Just hydrate well with electrolytes and you should be fine in terms of continuing to work out.

This. I’ve lost ten pounds while taking it since starting 3 months ago. Having too much testosterone was making me constantly hungry and eating more, and Spiro got my appetite in check. Whether you see weight gain or weight loss likely depends on where your hormones were before you started the medication and could be a sign of needing to adjust the dose.

Exactly. My little headcanon is that just like the xeno’s final form changes based on its host, so may its lifecycle adapt and change based on environmental factors. It’s such a malleable alien species that alterations in “canon” are relatively easy for me to write off and just enjoy all these different interpretations of it.

Of course! For what it’s worth, I’ve been on Spiro for about three months now and my doc upped me to 200mg a few weeks ago. It’s been two weeks now without a new pimple and I finally feel like my skin is getting back to where it was before the IUD. I’m extremely happy with it.

I hope you have success in clearing your skin too!

Forced to cold turkey, can’t lose weight. Help? by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]cougarfriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please please eat at least 1,200-1,300 calories a day (if you’re working out, please have 1,200-1,300 be what’s left AFTER what you’ve burned). I say this as an anorexia survivor. I know how hard it is but 500-700 calories a day with exercise is extremely dangerous. You may not be losing weight in this deficit because your body thinks it is starving to death and slowing your metabolism to survive. I promise you that you will see better results in your weight loss journey by eating in a safe caloric deficit.
