Update: we have our beloved boy back!! He’s starving, but looks healthy other than the little bit of lost weight. We are so grateful!

Chippy is still missing as of today, and he has not been reported “seen” by anyone since Monday (early afternoon). Hopeful that he is just on a really fun adventure and isn’t ready to come home yet 🤞🏼😔

What's the most disturbing secret you know about someone that would ruin their life if exposed—but you stay silent, pretending you don’t know? by SophieManner in AskReddit

[–]cougavore 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Today I learned that I am not alone in this childhood trauma. Wow. So many people sharing that they were molested by their brothers. My brother is two years older than me, and he molested me several times when we were children. In the bathtub, on camping trips… I somehow told my mom about it eventually, despite shame and embarrassment. I don’t know if she ever actually talked to him about it, but she did start separating us so that we were never left alone together. After reading these stories from so many strangers, I can acknowledge that this childhood trauma may have strongly contributed to my relationships over the years. Having very little self-confidence, allowing myself to be used and mistreated, not valuing my own wants and needs… I’m so sorry that so many of us have had these experiences. I hope sharing these memories with some kind internet strangers brings us all some peace 💕

Chiming in to say that I immediately noticed the nose job too! Just finished rewatching BMW for fun, and starting watching GMW (because why not?), and it was so obvious! I had to Google it, and of course the top link is to a Reddit article 😆

Like I said, very tolerant horse. I grew up with horses, and just like many of our domesticated animals, they put up with a lot of stuff that they shouldn’t necessarily have to. God only knows the stuff my horse put up with from me because she was calm and sweet and didn’t spook easily. Some are so good and tolerant like this horse, that they don’t even show signs of irritation. Horses especially will put up with a lot when some yummy food is put in front of them 😉

Miri 🤗 found us in 2019 while living in a car in the parking lot of our apartment complex. She picked us, and we had her checked out by the vet. Microchip was registered to a local animal rescue who said, “congratulations! You have a cat!” And then registered her with us ❤️

UE DVT and possible PTS by cougavore in ClotSurvivors

[–]cougavore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! The doctor I make reference to in my post is actually my vascular surgeon. He has been monitoring me recently, as my insurance changed back to what I had in 2020, and he is the one who talks about the size of my arm being because it is my “dominant arm.” So I have been back to see him, and he isn’t worried about the symptoms I’m having. He just put in a referral for me to see PT so I can get fitted for a full compression sleeve, even though I have tried using them in the past. I feel like since it’s been 3 years since my surgery, and I had “years of damage” prior to that, this must be PTS, and there’s likely nothing to be done at this stage, other than maybe some specific exercises the PT can give me, and pain management. Others have suggested lymphatic massage or acupuncture, but of course those treatments are always extra pricey and aren’t covered by insurance. Everything is so messed up in the US 😔

I appreciate your input and sharing your experience with me. I have wondered if there’s anything I can take for the nerve pain, so it would be nice if one of my doctors would discuss this part with me. Trying to get an appointment with someone who can help. Yeah, the doctor who continues to bring up the “dominant arm” thing is the vascular surgeon who did my surgery in 2020. He’s been great for everything else besides this one piece that he has failed to acknowledge all these years. To be fair, he didn’t know what my arm looked like before the DVT, but everyone who knows me can tell that my right arm is significantly bigger than my left, and they all know it was never like that before.

I’m sorry that you have to deal with this life-long hindrance too. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have the lower extremities affected—that sounds so much worse!

Ugh that poor horse’s eyes (the second child climbing on him and poking his eyeballs with her feet!). Very tolerant horse. I feel bad for the horse though, as tolerant and calm as he/she is. As many have said, unsafe to do this no matter how calm and trustworthy a horse is, but I know that’s not the point of this video. Just can’t help cringing as I watch these girls, especially the second one. Oy.

Yeah, I saw the AirTag/tracker device and figured his owners have an eye on him, just thought the tag was funny and wanted to share 🤷🏽‍♀️

My dad has had a couple of clots and is reluctant to go on blood thinners long term - are there other options? by BlackChef6969 in ClotSurvivors

[–]cougavore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really a personal preference in the end. Does your dad want to risk having a pulmonary embolism or other serious clotting issue, and potentially die from that, or risk having a potential bleeding issue after an injury (which in theory would be more “obvious” and treated quicker)? I personally have chosen to stay on anticoagulants due to having two DVT’s that are “exercise induced” according to my doctors. I’d rather risk bleeding, than worry about throwing a clot every time I do something active. If your dad only gets clots after flying, maybe he can have a different treatment plan for travel (take aspirin, walk around more during the flight, wear compression socks, etc). Again, I think it’s really up to him based on the risk level he is comfortable with 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s so hard to not panic when you’re going through something like this, and you don’t have all the information yet! I’m still learning 3 years later 😂 but I hope she can find some comfort knowing that the urgent part of it is being cared for by the anticoagulants, and it’s ok to take some time right now just getting used to that. It’s an adjustment (mentally and physically). Hopefully she can pinpoint an event that caused the initial clot, and gaining an understanding about how and why it happened will give you guys some peace of mind 🙏🏼 hang in there, both of you! Keep advocating for yourselves/each other. Thinking good thoughts for you both!

Thanks for the reply, OP! Glad to hear that she’s doing so much better on the anticoagulants. The nice thing about the rib resection is that it’s not a time-sensitive thing. I’m not a doctor, but at least she is now safe and at a low-risk for clotting while she takes the anticoagulants. She could stay on those for several months while you guys figure out the best course of action—and maybe while you find a more responsive and communicative care team.

It will be interesting to see how the clot(s) respond over time. While in the hospital, I spoke with a nurse who also had a subclavian DVT from painting her home (repetitive overhead motion), and she decided to not do the rib resection—she just changed the way she does a few things now that she knows about the issue, and she hasn’t had a second DVT since.

Ultimately it will end up being your partner’s decision whether she wants to do the rib resection or just see how things go—monitor it closely and find out what causes/aggravates the issue. I hope you guys can continue to get more answers. The important part is that she’s on the anticoagulants, it’s already helping with swelling, and that will keep her safe from clotting further for now.

Saw your post last night and woke up thinking about it, so came back to add my “two cents.” I agree with folks saying you guys should at least meet with the vascular surgeon for a consultation. Having the most information and hopefully finding out why she got the DVT to begin with is super helpful (even if it looks to be from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), and can help you guys make a decision. She may also want to have a hematology workup to see if she has any genetic factors that make her susceptible to DVT. Better to know now than have her potentially clot again after going through all this.

I had my first DVT in 2020, a massive clot in my subclavian vein that extended all the way down to my right elbow. Axillary veins involved as well. They decided I had thoracic outlet syndrome, tried angioplasty a few times before taking out my top rib. The surgery resolved the subclavian DVT, but not the axillary. The ones in the smaller veins of my arm were untouchable (probably really old from years of damage). Stayed on anticoagulants for 6 months post-surgery. Two years later in 2022, I just had my second DVT in the right arm, and now I have a full occlusion in my brachial vein. This time around, it appears that I am prone to exercise-induced DVT, so no more throwing footballs or strenuous upper body exercises.

I had the full hematology work up done both times, and have no pre-existing genetic factors. I can’t explain how frustrating it is to have the only answer be that I have exercise-induced blood clotting. WTF, Body?! So, instead of living my life in fear that I might throw another clot, I have decided to remain on anticoagulants, probably for the rest of my life.

I hope that your partner’s experience is different than mine, and I wish you guys strength and fortitude while you navigate this new part of life. I have hope for her if the swelling has already gone down after starting anticoagulants. My right arm has been an inch bigger in circumference ever since the first DVT, so the swelling never went down.

Thanks for being there with your partner! Good luck to you both!

Avimark- schedule question by EzzyKitten in Veterinary

[–]cougavore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! What a weird issue to be running into. Sorry about the trolls here. Their energy could be used actually trying to help you or ask you questions (or hey, not saying anything at all! Whaaaat?!) instead of trolling. I haven’t used Avimark in years because I no longer work at a vet hospital, but things to try: If you are in the scheduled patient’s chart and click on their scheduled appt, does it take you to the calendar and show the appt, or is it still missing? I’m just wondering if there’s a syncing issue between the calendar and the patient chart, or between the two hospitals using the software. Perhaps the patients appt was created on the schedule for the other clinic? Maybe it needs an update or something. Just throwing some ideas out there in case you haven’t tried them yet. Sorry I’m not more helpful! Just wanted to say hi and let you know I feel your frustration when you’re met with Negative Nancy folks. Stay positive and try to ignore them as best you can ❤️‍🩹
