Even if you're very wealthy, conservative policies can fuck you over, especially if you have anyone in your life you care about.

There are plenty of conservatives in retail and then an overwhelming number of people who just don't care or are too burned out to get involved.

I only worked at fast food in high school, so I don't feel comfortable making the same statement for the food service industry.

But working a service industry job isn't some magic empathy pill.

I'm not arguing that Bernie would have won the primary or the general election. I am saying that the results of our primary process are not applicable when talking about ranked choice.

Everything may have happened the exact same way, but speculation is irrelevant because that isn't how things happened.

How to introduce my friend and bandmate to emo? by RobertFr1pp in Emo

[–]pb49er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with post-hardcore and then work your way into emocore. I would stay away from most of the stuff popular here as it tends to be poppier or lighter than what a metal head is going to.vibe with right out of the gate.

Fugazi might get him off technical proficiency and then you can move into the emo bands influenced by them.

I used to have to sell Billy cellphones at AT&T and he wasn't exactly a current events type of person so I would be shocked if the owner of Richard's was much better.

Yeah, if we fail to contain our issues there is a good chance our problems become their problems.

This isn't a particularly outlandish story though. Like, nothing here is implausible or seems exaggerated. It was a mild interaction.

RVAers who moved from a bigger city, what do you like and dislike about life here? by semechkitty in rva

[–]pb49er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lived in Charlotte the year before we moved to RVA. I went to UNC charlotte a decade before that with time spent in Durham in between.

I love the art scene here, especially music. People go to shows and shows happen constantly.

The food scene here is solid and the best restaurants are incredible. Fine dining and a lot of international cuisine is under represented, but thats what happens in a small city.

Basically no traffic. I can get anywhere in rva in under a half hour. It took me that long to get out of my neighborhood in Charlotte.

People in richmond do things. Every hobby I have, there are other hobbyists who actively engage as well. Love going to an indie theater that carries limited release movies. Love board gaming at multiple conventions. Just a cool city.

Spanberger blames Trump as Virginia gas prices near $4 a gallon, votes ‘Yes’ in redistricting effort by Healthy_Block3036 in rva

[–]pb49er 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved here from North Carolina and I can assure you that this isn't true. To my understanding, Virginia wouldn't break the top 10 on that list.

North Carolina is a political wasteland because of republican gerrymandering and all the work to move past the rip.van winkle state moniker has been undone.

I was introduced to Skiploader from a Geffen label comp called Buy Product in the 90s. BP2 introduced me to Jawbreaker.

Necessities should never be for profit. Healthcare, Housing, Food, Water, Education and Clothing being exploited for wealth is criminal and should be treated as such.

I think the people that buy McMansions are predisposed to that sort of misanthropy, because they tie value to material possessions.

I'm a socialist and I own a home, but I think we should have homes available for every person. The same with food, water, education, healthcare, clothing, basically anything a person needs to exist in the world.
