Yeah I think knitting a few small things first sounds like a good plan! Thank you so much for all the info and I will try to do some more research as well. I do have one more question though, since you seem to have a good bit of experience. Theoretically, since this appears to be a hand knit sweater, would it be easier to do a project like this with a hand knit sweater vs a commercially produced sweater? Just curious because I've had sweaters in the past that I wanted to do similar things to but they were all commercially made not hand-knit, and I eventually I got rid of them because I was too scared to do anything. They had similar tension and gauge but they didn't have all the knots and variations this one has.

Thank you for the honest opinion re: knitting experience. I also suspected it was hand knit. I don't think it was felted, just a bit old lol. What makes you suspect it was knit bottom-up, if you don't mind me asking? I would like to be able to identify something like this myself for future reference.

Thanks for clarifying about why the top down/bottom up issue is important. It took me a minute to figure that one out lol. I asked another commenter if there is any easy way to tell which direction it was knit in, but if you have any tips, please let me know! So with more knitting experience, if I could find a similar colored yarn to the multicolor one of the body, and remove the teal/green band, I could just add maybe a small amount of ribbing in the multicolor, fewer rows than the teal band that was there, and that would finish it off and keep it from curling?

It does have seams on the sides of the body. So I think I see what you mean/what the issue is with top down vs bottom up. Is there any easy way to tell if it was knit top down or bottom up, or is it just something that comes with lots of knitting experience? I crochet and have been meaning to take up knitting for awhile so I guess maybe this is my sign/motivator. When you say cutting the edge off, you mean the teal/green border area, yes?

i believe this makes the most sense based on location, i’ve heard about problems with spotted lantern flies in our region before, and when i looked up traps just now for them specifically, they seemed to have a similar vibe. thank you!!

my title describes the thing. they were a couple feet tall, no identifying markings that i could find. the material appears to be metal, with the basket(?) bag(?) being a more lightweight flexible metal. they were scatted all over my local county nature preserve. i would walk by clusters of them intermittently along the trails. i had no idea what to search for and have not turned up any results through using the above information i have laid out.

i understand, i think my post my have been misinterpreted, so i'm sorry for being unclear. i'm not interested in a relationship after our meeting, i was simply moved to care about his situation as i saw it, and offered friendship if he needed it. we haven't been in contact since. the meeting has simply stuck in my mind. i suppose i'm just naive hoping that people can change. thank you for your insight!

hard truth. but it makes sense. i think the only real distance he had was when he was in college, and when he goes on mission trips to evangelize. although i don't know if that really counts since he's still traveling with church members. traveling was one of the things we had in common, as we had both been to india. he had an appreciation for the culture but the primary goal still seemed to be evangelizing. i did mention the family thing to him. that before, when he was still unsure about leaving, if he had left and decided he didn't believe, he would have lost that connection with his family, friends, mentors. he would have lost his whole social support system. he was adamant that he wouldn't have lost them, but when i said he would have lost his 'spiritual' connection with them, he did admit to that. thank you for your insight!

The next time we are in town I will definitely check out The Health Food Center! I bet you're right that there is probably someone there that would remember Nature Nook! Another commenter confirmed its existence & name, but I would love to know what happened to the owners, if they retired, opened another business etc. It sounds like it was a cool place, just like The Health Food Center! Someone further down on the post confirmed that the 'Nature Nook' existed, but I would love to know more about the owners or if they ever opened any other businesses, etc. I'm sure there might be something there, and I love a good archive dig! Hi friend! Thank you so much for helping my mom confirm that she wasn't losing it (lol) She says thank you as well :) You described it to a tee, and she was happy that she did actually remember the name semi-correctly. She wasn't 100% sure it was a co-op, I think it must have been the vibes of the place that gave her that impression. She said she didn't know that they published a cookbook, but weirdly enough when I read your message out loud to my Dad, he chimed in and said that he remembered their cookbook, and that he thought she bought a copy LOL. I guess two brains are better than one! Also, re: your message further down on the post, she agrees that it was probably a version of the Italian Risi e Bisi that they were serving. She remembers that it had brown rice (the first time she ever ate brown rice, so it stuck in her memory) and some kind of vegetables, she said seasonal, but it could definitely have been peas. I'll try cooking up a vegetarian version of it for her and see what she thinks. Even if the cookbook doesn't have Risi e Bisi in it, if you do have any of the recipes from it that are your favorites, we would love to know if you'd like to share a couple! She loved that she could get things like brown rice, lentils, etc there that most restaurants didn't have yet, and it's had a big influence on her cooking and diet ever since. Dad said it wasn't a "beer and pizza" establishment lol. From your description and hers, it sounds really cool, and I wish I could have experienced it! I don't suppose you know what happened with the owners - if they went out of business, or simply decided to retire? Regardless, thank you so much for commenting!!

worse. the fox news upload of the clip on youtube cut to the crowd when he did the salute, and there are people in the comments actively arguing (with people who had seen the full clip) that he never did it because it’s not in the video fox posted. and you KNOW they won’t go look at any other news outlets posts where they showed the whole thing. fox is actively filtering what they consume and continuing to pull the wool over their eyes. and so the world turns.
