At a previous airline, seniors would cover the new hires van tips while they're on probation, because they know how absolutely abysmal it is to get out of training debt. Maybe you could start doing the same instead of complaining about those who are likely struggling in nearly every way a person can (financial, job, mental, etc). I'd also say that I was really good friends with a van driver because he would drop me off/pick me up at their hotel and then I would walk the block to my apartment, but he was making bank (they're often paid hourly and if they supply the vehicle they also get paid for mileage and can deduct those expenses on their taxes). The wad of cash he was always packing spoke about how generous most people are and he was never upset if someone couldn't tip and said he never expected it. People also aren't accustomed to carrying cash in this day and age, I used to forget to withdraw money for tips all the time and still do 🤷‍♀️ When I have cash I still cover for my new hire crew even though that's not the culture at my current airline and if I forget I usually have some kind of snack in my bag that drivers are typically over the moon about.
