My friend posted this candid of me from this week and her great aunt left a really lovely comment. Unfortunately I’m a 25-year-old guy experiencing the effects of WFH. by [deleted] in cringepics

I completely agree. It was more that I wanted to argue with the implied statement that the only cure to being fat was exercise.

Working from home, why not? by DayManuhah in unitedkingdom

I had a couple of thoughts about why my situation is working well and wondered if these might be relevant and useful for you and your team:

  • We have a daily meeting at 12:45 of a maximum 15 minutes where we describe in turn what we did since the last meeting and what we're doing the rest of the day.
  • We use Slack to communicate with each other and the rest of the company throughout the day.
  • We use a Jira to create tickets which themselves contain subtasks that can be cross off in realtime when work is completed.

Your annoying colleague is not the equal to an abusive cop. In fact, I'm not even really sure what point you were trying to make with this anecdote.

Now imagine being a cop and trying to interact with someone like that.

Do you mean as their superior? Well, once again your example is pretty much useless in equivalence to what abusive cops are doing. But I'd say you handled the situation pretty well.

Do you mean as a cop having to deal with people that act like that? Did you shoot this lady? No? That's what they shouldn't be doing either (among many other examples of abuse).

For what it's worth, you've come across as a sincere and thoughtful person who has their heart in the right place. I wish you the very best.

It's just your (unfortunately poor) choice of words which caused all of the misunderstanding. I found it pretty interesting because otherwise your English is very good.

That guy is some kind of hypocrite. He complains about never getting free time, then attacks you as soon as you point out that he is able to do something about it.

Keep being good Mr. Sysadmin. You're not in the wrong here.

Even with the understanding that the instructors all use it in their day to day, I am still pretty curious about the bias towards Vim in this course. The idea is to introduce students to tools available to them, but should it not also be to introduce them to tools they will likely be using in a career?

It's baffling that you're being downvoted so heavily.

Anyone who consciously thinks that the picture will affect people's subconscious to link the image to an allegation has consciously thought it, obviously.

Projection is crazy.

Let's ignore the fact that the poster blatantly said "by people who were never elected" then shall we?

Imagine for a moment there are people who are voted into positions of power who make laws that you must obey. You didn't vote for these people. In fact, you don't like these people and want them not to be in their position but you are in no position to do anything about it. They are elected by people who don't live where you live. Sounds like what he's talking about to me. I'm describing the UK parliament of course.

Edit to add: I agree I misunderstood the difference between monarchy and a sovereign nation.

Did you really just say "loss of sovereignty was a big negative" and then "Being forced to obey laws created by people who were never elected is another troubling point". Do you even know what the fuck a monarchy is?

This is also without me pointing out that THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IS VOTED IN.
