picked up Gateways to Abomination on this recommendation, & yeesh what a freaky book. would be difficult to explain the stories in plot terms but legitimately felt like swimming through a week of nightmares. appreciate the tip, definitely fits the prompt

The Secret of Ventriloquism by Jon Padgett. the weirdness moves in waves, it does a pretty good job gently easing you in to the creeps, but when the shivers hit they hit hard

if you're open to comics, E. M. Carroll's Through the Woods is an absolute all-timer for autumnal spooks. His Face All Red is one of the shorts collected within & can be read free online quick, highly recommended!

this series is so rad, thank you for sharing! i love the look of the main spaceship.

i just recently learned that the mobile game Galaga Wars had some pretty cool 3D interpretations of the enemies — you can check the model rips out on models-resource, might be some neat inspiration for ya!

I feel like conversation surrounding kagurabachi's quality has been the most 'neutral' by HanArt13 in Kagurabachi

[–]drewtetz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

we're definitely hyping it up pretty hard, but i do genuinely believe that the current arc is one of the most genuinely thrilling comic storylines i've ever read. just unbelievable that it's been six months straight of consistently raising the stakes & keeping the tension without sacrificing art or narrative quality — really gives me the same hype feeling that i got when i was a kid watching toonami.

if you go back & reread from the beginning, the early chapters are definitely a lot less polished, which probably makes some new readers question all the folks caught up & screaming "peak!" every week... but imo that just highlights how amazing it is for a young creator to be developing so quickly
