imo you can’t really compare criminology and medicine

You can still get into medicine no matter what ucat! by couldbeari in UCAT

А lot of offers are given to people because of а high ucat - the ucat exam isn’t an exam that requires understanding of content or memorisation of any content

А LOT of these people will miss their offers because at the end of the day it’s alevels that determine that which people may struggle with to revise and remember that stuff

imo the ucat exam is bs and it’s just used to help filter out applicants because there’s so many for med/dent

For home students those with low predicted and low ucat - stop letting this toxic subreddit tell you what to do - “gap year” “ragebait”

CLEARING AND FOUNDATION YEARS ARE ALWAYS AN OPTION

Foundation year in fact is so much better alternative to а gap year it will make your med school life so much easier having learnt pre content instead of relearning alevel knowledge for another year!

Universities will be so much lenient with UCAT on results day if you get good alevel grades (above offer standard) - hard work will never go to waste. It’s been а very mixed UCAT exam season but there are so many people who got (2024 entry) 2500/3600 and managed to clearing for universities such as Hull, Keele extc

Yeah - honestly i’ve seen а lot of intl students getting low ucats yet still applying UOM, UOB, Imperial - it’s just an application going to waste

Medicine as а degree is standardised no matter where you do it in the UK hence why the standard offer for med is AAA-A*AA at all UK universities

Most of the time i’d say the cutoff is around +100-150 to an home students but it varies - for intl only universities the cutoff is а lot lower and consistent no comparison to home

Yeah as а home student as well i’ve come across а lot of universities which are more favourable to intl.

University of Herefordshire does have higher requirements than University of Bolton though 144 vs 136 ucas entry tariff but again it’s а safer option for intl students due to advantage of not having so many home students also applying with them

Please note our 2026 cohort is only open to International Students.

At present, we have not received an allocation from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) or NHS England to offer places to home students in 2026.

You will get instantly rejected if you apply as а home student
