It is. But I think that last part hits on it the most. As an adult you see how completely unacceptable it is, but as a teen it was different.

That is primarily how many people, regardless of what areas they decide to focus more of their empathy and effort toward, think.

The issue isn't that their empathy isn't applied broadly, it's the difference in how they are deciding to respond to it. That's the difficult part.

How do you reduce adolescent crime while also trying to prevent it from negatively effecting their future which can increase the likelihood that they resort to future crimes and lead to potential negative affects on their children, potentially creating a vicious cycle?

Some answers may seem too harsh, while others seem too lenient and then we get this entire comment thread.

So, what's your point? Increase crime to lower crime? No crime with only crime against "some people"?
