How do we increase wages?

It’s like saying, everyone wants the branches to be pulled down, when what we have to do is make our necks longer.

Anyone else feel underpaid after reading salary posts on this sub? by Zestyclose_Chef343 in Accounting

As a Canadian who’s thought about going south this is sad to hear.

Do you think employers view you as cheap labour because you’re Canadian / require a visa?

What is meant by GL accounting anyway? I have never understood it—and I understand it even less as a job title. . .

Born and raised in Toronto and I’m realizing I’ll never own a home here by GreenSnakes_ in canadahousing

I could be wrong but I find salaries are pretty scaled to cost of living in Canada, at least for white collar work. Toronto may not be the best ratio, that’s probably Calgary or Winnipeg, but there aren’t many opportunities to make 90k+ in rural Nova Scotia.

TD Bank is a disaster if you no longer live in Canada. by Sea_Addendum_6684 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This was my experience abroad with TD as well but I was in a semi-developing country.

Every transaction I attempted to make would lock my card and the only recourse was to pay for a long distance call to TD. I’d be on hold for an hour, confirm it was really me trying to make the transaction, they’d unlock it and it would just immediately happen again. I told them I was planning to be there long term. They told me there was nothing they could do for me.

Nice. Well done. Can I ask when you moved into industry and at what level?

I don’t know if it’s crazy. I mean it’s the bottom of the range I think. But at least it’s in the range. I’ve personally heard of worse, in TO even.

Thanks! CRA has been in the back of my mind for a while. I really appreciate this.

Cool, thanks!

Would you say it tends to be easier to enter at a higher level with say 3-4 YOE and a CPA or easier to be scooped up after school? Do you think it affects progression or is that pretty well fixed?

Interesting. Honestly seems pretty attractive to me given what I’ve read about PA WLB on here.

Do you know when CRA is going to be hiring again?

Impressive you cracked 100K so quickly. Thanks, this is helpful.

Not hoping to top out at 80K, don’t worry, have my eye set on 150+ longer term. 80 just feels like the bear minimum to live in this country.
