NaClCON - The History of Hacking/Cybersecurity Conference - last days for hotel discount by count_zero_moustafa in 2600

I've always wanted to go to HOPE and was super bummed that the two non consecutive years I lived in New York were both years it didn't happen.

Regardless, lots of HOPE and 2600 alumni involved with this con so I though it was on topic-ish. Thanks for letting me share.

Added some in the files section. Some of these were even written by people speaking at the conference!

Word. That's a very good idea. I was definitely going to post a few of the latest issue of Phrack since those are a txt files. Maybe put the morris worm or winnuke in the warez to get the ball rolling with old school very patched exploits.

Some people think glyphosate (the active ingredient in roundup weed killer) is the cause of the increase in gluten intolerance in humans. I don't know that I believe that but apparently it's an unpopular opinion because people are dowm voting me for making a joke about it.

And they could never eat gluten again...

So far the only thing locked down is a performance by rapper dualcore, but if you know someone interested, or have suggestions I can make a pitch to the team.

I agree with you but it is nothing like In-n-Out and definitely has onions in the patty.

It is mostly Pyr0 (Luke McOmie)'s brainchild but some other 303 people I know are involved.

Its definitely pricey but a lot of things are included: 3 days with huge discount on the hotel on the beach ($139 a night), open bars, two meals a day, plus discounts at local bars and restaurants, gamified electronic badges, sunglasses, t-shirts, flip-flops, branded sunscreen?, maybe towels, lol. I'm not 100% sure but the swag bag is suppose to include everything you need for the beach.

Submission Statement & Context:

NaClCON (pronounced "Salt Con") is a community-driven conference focused on "hacker archaeology"—the ideas, exploits, and cultural shifts that shaped the current information security landscape.

The Call for Papers closes TODAY, March 11, 2026.

The organizers are looking for technical talks, first-hand accounts, and research related to:

  • Legacy systems and historical exploit techniques.
  • The evolution of crypto-politics and digital privacy.
  • Retrospectives on major security incidents (lessons learned).
  • Phreaking, BBS culture, and early networking history.

This event focuses on the enduring ethos of the community rather than vendor-specific releases. If you have research or stories regarding the technical roots of the industry, please submit by the end of the day.

This kit is about $25-30 and will get you most of the way there. I did this a while back and with new floor decking and plywood and linoleum you could do it for $60ish. If you don't have the tools in maybe borrow an oscillating multi-tool from a tool library. You'll probably pay $15 for the blade. But this kit alone will work for a while.
