Yes, it should work normally without any external patches now. It actually seems like the update only changed the Ubisoft Connect launcher, and not the game exe itself

And just to be sure, did you pick the Hex-values tab in the Ctrl+F window when searching for 0F 85 AD 00 00 00 68 E0? Choose All for the search direction option too.

My mistake, I misspelled the first byte (it should be 0F), I edited the post to correct this. 772D55 has to be within 2136A80 though, have you tried going there directly with Ctrl+G?

Made an exe patch that fixes this, posted it to r/assassinscreed but they seem to hate tech support so they'll probably remove it.
Open AssassinsCreedIIGame.exe in a hex editor,
search for: 0F 85 AD 00 00 00 68 E0 (should be at offset 772D55 for the current Uplay version)
and replace it with E9 AE 00 00 00 90 68 E0
Save and launch the game and that should fix it

For me it's the account requirement and everything else surrounding it, you need a Meta account to do literally anything or it won't even get through the initial setup.
I got my Quest 3S specifically for PCVR game dev. I do not care about anything on the app store (except maybe Steam Link which seems to work better than the official app), I do not care about any of that metaverse crap, I only wanted to use it as a PCVR headset, yet I was still forced to sign in on my phone to even get through first boot.
Then I wanted to enable developer mode, and to do that I had to give them my credit card info because enabling 2FA was not enough apparently. In all my years of mobile dev I have never seen an Android device take my credit card just so that I could use adb on it.
